This is an old thread of mine, without the poll. I think polls are pointless here due to the few regular posters. Anyway, a rather boring question, just curious. I do drink an awful lot of water every day, perhaps even too much. It`s partly because of the amount of salt in my diet, and also related to alcohol consumption. If I don`t have enough water then feel awfully dehydrated. So always keep several bottles in my room. These are either Evian bottled water/another brand or refilled from the tap. Also like fizzy water, especially very mineralised ones like Badoit (a French brand). So how much do you drink, is it tap water, or what?

A litre or two maybe, always tap water because I don't like wasting money on bottled water.

Not enough, and it's just whatever is available, such as bottled water or drinking fountain. I need to get a filter sometime so I can use the tap water again.

I feel like I could talk about this too much. As I've mentioned here, I love Acqua Panna in a glass bottle. I've tried many brands of water, and nothing comes close to being as smooth. This thread has made me grab the last cold one in the fridge. To save money and because it's more convenient, I just drink regular store-brand plastic bottles of water at work. I want to eventually get a filter though, so I can use my tap water. However, the more I've been looking into it, the more picky I am about what filter I want to get. Among other things, I would like to get one that filters fluoride. I've read so many good things about the Big Berkey filter, but there's a large up-front cost so I'm waiting a while before I decide to buy. I've also noticed, and this concerns me a bit, when I've drank certain types of water on an empty stomach, my stomach has gotten a little upset. I wonder if I have an underlying health issue that's causing that. As far as how much I drink, I guess it's around 60 ounces (1.75 liters) a day.

I'm the kind of person who forgets he has to drink water until I feel really dehydrated. I have to keep a bottle of water or a glass next me to think about it. I like to drink tea too. I don't really know how much I drink. I would say about 2 liters when I don't forget to drink too much.
I prefer Evian bottled water. But I'm not really picky so I can drink whatever brand there is. At the moment I have a "valvert" bottle of water next to me. Tap water is awful here.

The 'correct amount' has always bugged me.
The NHS has always said that you need eight glasses a day, but recent studies have proven this completely wrong. There is no set amount, the amount you need is different for everyone. So all this 'X amount of litres, glasses or gallons a day' is complete nonsense. So, I don't really think about it too much.
I don't live in a hot climate, those type of people need to drink a ridiculous amount of water each day. I don't exercise, those type of people need to drink a ridiculous amount each day, to stay hydrated. And I'm not fat, those type of people need to drink a ridiculous amount of water each day.
I usually stick to a glass of tap water a day, usually a pint glass, filled with ice cubes and that'll do me.
The amount you need to drink is actually based on the colour of your pee. The lighter, more lemonade the colour, you're well hydrated and doing okay. Dark means you need to drink more.
So if doctors are right, I'm not drinking enough. But, one pint, lemonade pee. Doing fine, me.
I suppose if I was fat or exercised I'd need more, but no, tap water all the way. Just about all I drink, actually. That and coke and tea. Lots of tea. I'm from Yorkshire, it's to be expected, really.

I'm somewhat like Puppet. I don't drink enough water or I forget to drink it - and I am chronically in a state of dehydration - or nearly so. I put water up in the freezer and then bring it down about 2 or 3 hours later and then drink it so I don't taste the chlorine; besides that I like it icy lol (usually if I get a hamburger at Mickey D's, I usually ask them for an ice water along with it LOL). I used to drink a lot more water years ago. I find when I'm (usually the case with me) stressed out, I tend to neglect drinking the water also (blimey most of the time I almost "forget to breathe" - I'm one of those stress shallow breathers lol - but that's another topic hahaha). I also like to drink tea my favourite drink (as usual). Plus, I find with me having a tendency toward hyponatremia (my blood tests a few years ago showed a low normal in the sodium values - and I had eaten a high salt meal before my fast too!!!), so when I'm out for a walk, I bring my water bottle with me, but I make sure I just take small sips so I don't get dizzy and pass out. I think I'll try to get some salt packets somewhere to take with me just in case also so I can keep the salt/water balance ok for me; maybe a packet of salted peanuts also. (I also have a tendency toward very low blood pressure, but it's still within the clinical normal range - so far 96/68 (has to be lower than 90/50 for a clinical diagnosis of hypotension). Probably goes hand in hand with my chronic fatigue also. I know, I'm getting off topic LOL so I will stop now, or try to, hahaha.

I try to drink as much water as possible but I don't think I ever get enough. Most of my water is tap water that is then filtered and chilled through the fridge dispenser.

I used to drink nothing but water except during special occasions but unfortunately, these last two years I've been more into soft drinks ( especially when there's something new, I've always had a weakness for new things ) but even then I still try and drink at least one liter of bottled water each day. I also tend to drink a mug of green tea after coming home from work ( without sugar to make up for drinking soft drinks, at least in my mind ).

I don't know how much water I drink, I usually keep a glass next to me at work, and at home I just gulp some down whenever I'm thirsty, which equals about 2-3 cups a night, and about 2-3 cups during the day at work. I should work on drinking more. At home I have one of those pitchers that filters tap water, and I just refill it every night. At work we have one of those water coolers. I keep meaning to get one of those filters that go directly on your tap. Seems more convenient.

OK, I did my own experiment (because I'm strange like that).
I bought a bunch of different brands of water and did a personal taste test. I made it a blind taste test by pouring them into paper cups with the brand name at the bottom. I moved the cups around randomly to the point where I had no idea which was which. I then tasted them all and ranked them. This is certainly no scientific test but it's good enough for me.
I tried 8 different brands in all. The results surprised me. There were brands I thought would do well that didn't, and vice-versa. My biggest surprise was Fiji - I ranked it the worst, where before I thought it tasted great. The store-brand (generic) spring water ranked very high at #2. I also thought I didn't like Poland Spring and I ranked it #3.
However, I did rank my favorite brand, Acqua Panna at #1. So my perceptions about what water tastes good and what doesn't, are not completely wrong. I think we can sometimes tell the difference between different brands of water, but just not always. It's a mixed bag.
Also, I should have tasted my tap water - forgot to do that. Maybe another day.

There's meant to be some science to the idea that the color of the bottle etc... contributes to how we taste it. It's a curious science. It's tap water for me generally. When I'm training I'll need to drink more but otherwise I'm pretty much a camel maybe 500ml a day which is far from what I should be drinking. If you're trying to drink more leaving a water bottle sitting nearby seems to help. Most of the time I'll drink absent mindedly because it was sitting there.

I don't know why but tab water has always tasted nasty to me. I only drink bottled water but I think I prefer Perrier water better than anything. First post by the way.
