According to environmental scientists there's only about 20 years worth left in the world's oil reserves anyway. I think it's time to get serious about alternative energy sources. Actually it was time to get serious about alternative energy about 30 years ago. Some already are getting serious. If you ask me, we should develop nuclear fusion energy a bit more. If it's good enough for the sun to burn on, then it's good enough for us. I mean, it's not like there's a shortage of hydrogen in the universe.

Gas prices only affect the poor,,like me. Most people don't care, look at all the H2's (Hummers) on the road,, they get under 10mpg I think.
As for alternative fuels,, like fuel cells and such, they know how to do it,, problem is they don't know how to get filthy rich off it. Money is the name of the game. And forget solar power,,,no money in a free abundant energy source.
One thing many people forget too is that the cost of almost everything will go up too. Most goods are deliverd by thirsty trucks,,, I know I drive one for a living.

And if I do want to drive myself around places, I will probably just get an electric scooter.

it will never get under $2 again, they know they can get the $$$ out of us now
using OIL is so damn ancient technology
I know damn well there are better, cheaper, more efficient techologies (better than solar) but the Govt wont use cuz they need to keep themselves rich and their buddies rich
Im sure a lot of technology has been hidden, killed over and patented and bought out and kept under wraps. I just know it, who knows what some now dead people have invented.

My parents are looking to get a hybrid car next time they purchase one.

umm, people will drive or how else will they get to work? they'd have to quit their jobs in which case they wouldn't have any money at all. sorry daisy1 but you're stuck in traffic unless you're rich enough to buy the freeway lol. ;D

I got stopped by a train yesterday... notice J.B. Hunt trailers stacked double (one on top of the other). It is affecting the trucking industry... higher prices for all products that are trasported.

Personally I think the motivation behind this email about oil prices is purely for selfish reasons. Its basic economics that high demand and dwindling supplies will cause prices to rise. People should be giving due consideration to future generations and conserving as much oil as possible so it lasts longer. Afterall we want the best for our kids... don't we??? Also alternative fuels need to be developed now to prepare for the inevitable day oil does run out. Apparently in Brazil most of their cars are designed to run on alcohol. A very abundant fuel indeed! It can be made from almost any fruit or vegetables. It sure puts a new spin on driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

I think these high gasoline prices are far outdated. I mean, we all knew that the oil indsutry was destined to die, what with the finite amount of energy reserves left to draw on, so why is it so much of a shock for people t pay $3 or more per gallon?
I can remember just a few years ago when gas prices were $.70 or $.80 a gallon, and people were losing their jobs left and right. I dont' see high gas prices as so much of an economic crippler as the media would like you to believe.
