i am painfully shy. Whenever I've have a terrible day at school I always come home, close my bedroom door and blast music like Radiohead and REM. It's helps me escape and the music talks to me. Does anyone out there do the same?

That is definitely the normal thing to do. Of course for me I listen to headphones because Ive become so self-conscious. Which is a whole new post in itself. Ive been listening to chill musc/acid jazz type stuff. Dj Krush/Shadow, Thievery Corporation, Herbalizer, Amon Tobin, the list goes on and on....

Yep and to think i thought i was the only one who escaped by listening to music. I do it a lot of the time, and depending on what mood i am in decides on the type of music i put on.

I do the same when i'm feeling down too, I listen to it in darkness as well so I don't have any distractions and can just concentrate on the music and the way I feel and stuff.

I find it amazing how a song can bring back so many memories good & bad.

I can relate to that, there's quite a few songs that remind me of my ex girlfriend

I go to the park and walk around the track while listening to music. I come up with little videos in my head for each song that I listen to. It's my little escape and I get exercise in too

i use music to escape my shyness in a different way. as long as no one's around, or at least no one that i'm not totally comfortable around, i sing along loudly ;D

I agree with moogle, there's nothing like a loud sing-a-long to one of your favourite songs to get a bit of that pent up emotion out into the open. Just as long as there's no one else around mind

Hey, so do I...Coming up with little videos in my head to all the songs I hear, cause, I guess my life yearns for more activity. I rarely express em though......Nirvana songs always seem to be more picturesque in my mind......

I like listening to dance music but it seems like hardly anybody else in this kind of forum ever does. Why is this? But then I've had the same taste in music since I was about 8 or 9 years old. I don't like listening to unhappy music.
