When I'm down and going through pretty bad times, I always try to pull myself out of it by speaking little kind of mantras to myself. The one I have been saying a lot quite recently is: 'go easy on myself. In the past I have also used things like: 'positive mental attidude', 'be aggressive', 'come on. Does anybody else use this kind of technique to psyche yourself up?

I don't use words to motivate myself. Instead I tend to use past experiences to do that. I say to myself something I will never get myself into that position again. I use past failures to make social connection to spur me on to future successes.

I tend to do pretty much the same thing. I use my past experiences to motivate myself. If I clam up during a staff function in the past I try to use that to motivate myself not to let it happen again.

To pull myself out of being down, I usually listen to music [happy music, not depressing stuff] and I have a load of inspiring quotes that I read and the main thing I do is talk to people about it; it usually helps and I usually joke about the reason i'm feeling down, which helps too.

I wouldn't say I pray but at the end of the day I always think about the day I've just had & the day ahead.
