Adrian, I went and got into the chatroom but no one was there. I"ll try again this evening. You may need to go in and change your setting on your browser.

I have no idea what settings to change, i think ive changed a million things over a course of months and it doesnt get any better! I think next im going to try a very big hammer, it probably wont make java work but it should make me feel better when i see this thing in pieces! GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we need to change something in our settings? If you work it out, let me know. Thanks.

Adrian, when I wrote previously I was on my office computer that runs Windows 98 and it worked. At home I run Windows XP Home Edition and it won't work and Microsoft doesn't support this JAVA software. So, if Shane reads this..maybe he can find another way to enable the software for the chatroom for those of us who runs Windows XP can enjoy it. Other wise, I guess we will do as now...type here?

Adrian, I have a 2nd computer at home and it has WIN ME on it and it will open the chatroom just fine as well as WIN 98. In WIN XP it seems the Java applet isn't supported as Sun and Microsoft settled a lawsuit recently whereas Java won't work on Microsoft windows after December of 2007. Microsoft doesn't have any support for the Java software and if something goes wrong Microsoft won't help you. So, going to Sun Microsystems, Inc. seems to be the place but whether you want to use their Java software on your Microsoft browser, is your choice. I debated doing it, but knew this computer I am typing on is running WIN ME would work, so I am on it tonight. Hope this ramble helps everyone somewhat.

Thanks for the help BobLouie, you are correct but ive been on the sun website, microsoft's website and loads of others to try and sort it out but nothing will work for me, and it is all very confusing . I am using Windows XP though and im getting these problems so maybe another computer on Windows 98 or something might work, ill try that if i get the chance.

Adrian, I am in Texas but I got an email from a computer Guru buddy, who gave me a website from Sun to get a download to solve our problems. When I get home Monday night I'll try what he suggested for my XP and if it works I'll forward you the link. We over here are celebrating the 4th of July as its our Indpendence Day. BobL

Hello all, sorry to hear that some of you are having problems accessing the chat-room. I use Windows XP and it works fine for me. I've just sent the forum provider an email letting them know about our problems. Hopefully they can remedy the problems pretty quickly.
I'll get back to you...

Hello all, I've just received a reply from the chat provider. They recommend installing Java. I know that some of you have problems with Java so we could change our chatroom into a web-based one that should alleviate the problem. Let me know. P.S. Here is their email if full: Hi Shane, With regard to your support inquiry. Many of the issues over the past couple of years in respect of Java have been that Microsoft did not include it in version 6 (though they were going to). This meant that many people assumed there was a problem with an applet when it was the browser that did not support it. We would recommend that any user installs the JVM provided by Java Sun and recommend using version 1.3 which can be downloaded from java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.htmlIf your users are not happy using Java chat rooms then you have one of two options, firstly to use a downloadable program or to use a web based system written in a scripting language (ASP, PHP) or a CGI system - we do not provide these types of service.
