Ok I don't know if this can be seen as a proven cure but the way I see it, when I get a really good nights sleep I generally feel a little more confident (being an insomniac that's not often) but I think that a herbal remedy which calms you and promotes natural sleep might be good. Otherwise (If you sleep well) a herbal relaxant? I believe that if you feel good inside you will feel good on the outside, thus feeling more confident. It's just a thought...but a good nights sleep could help

Really, I've never seen this discussed before or even read much about it, but I think I (and no doubt others) am particularly vulnerable to things like lack of sleep and lack of good nutrition, not getting good exercise that day, feeling dehydrated or physically uncomfortable. I absolutely have experienced this. Oftentimes when I get enough sleep and feel good otherwise I am positively outgoing. Feeling even a little lackluster can revert me back to my shy ways like nothing else can. Very good point!

I never get enough sleep. I just finished not too long ago a persuasive paper about sleep deprivation and the importance of getting a good night's sleep too. A chronic lack of sleep especially can screw up your health as I've learned. Yet, I still can't get myself to get my homework done earlier in the day so that I can go to bed at a decent time. So I honestly don't think that I know what it's like to be fully rested and awake. I always feel like I'm in a daze and very tired.
So, I can't back you up on that one. However, it was really weird that the night I didn't sleep at all, I seemed to talk more when I went to school in the morning. As a classmate of mine said, it's almost like you're on a high or something. I guess I was just to tired to care what anybody thought! lol
That's not saying that you shouldn't sleep, though, because it's very important to your health and overall well-being. It probably is better for your self-esteem and confidence when you're feeling healthy, well, and not tired. I know that not getting enough sleep can make you feel more down on yourself.

i have felt the same with extreme lack of sleep..I don't think I had enough energy to feel anxious so i was more outgoing.
Maybe it works at both ends of the spectrum but i guess the more sleep/healthy way is best!

In school (or anywhere) whenever I nap, even for a few minutes, when I wake up I feel entirely different. Almost all of my self-talk is gone, I'm not self conscious, etc. Really great feeling, but it gradually starts fading shortly after . Anyone else like this? I've always wondered about it

I think you can get the same result with a good wank, w/out any visual stimulus though. Add a nice post-wank-nap to the mix and you get yourself a guaranteed midday invigoration routine. The biggest obstacle is stress though, if you're highly stressed you won't be able to perform it.

If you take a short nap somewhere public, like while getting educated, I don't think you can fit in a good w*nk before or after your nap.

wow *Thinks for a moment* that actually may be...good one. You know someone also told me that if u sleep in the nude u can start to feel more confident. Lack of sleep helps me sometimes as I am too worn out to be nervous. Getting caught up on sleep though seems to make me feel better overall. Like I got home from work and fell asleep and just now woke up. lol Sleeping in the nude. Yeah do it all the time since I live alone. Usually when I am home, the clothes come off. ;D I don't know that it makes me feel anymore confident or not though.

I have always had difficulty sleeping soundly. Even as a child, it would often take a long time to fall asleep. I also wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep.
A few months ago, I bought a white noise machine -- a SleepMate made by Marpac. It is amazing. I think part of my problem must be that I am overly sensitive to variations in sound level. The SleepMate produces a constant level of static sound by moving air through itself. I still have to be careful not to think too much about anything in bed, but the machine has made a huge difference.
