When that happens I start to think "Oh everyone will be all surprised if I all of a sudden start talking. I better not freak them out"

Have you ever just planned to get up the next morning and go to school or wherever you had to go and just be all talkative and outgoing (sort of lose your shyness over night type of thing)? I always do this (or at least try) but the second I walk into school I get too nervous and quickly go back to my old 'shy' ways. I've tried it once when I was a lot younger. I surprised myself that day and many other people who knew me at the time. Unfortunately, it took all my energy. The next day I went back to being shy and quiet. I wish I could do this again but now that I'm older many other issues come into play.

But this is a good way to start overcoming shyness..........I always do it...........I have this really weird thing i never tell people when i'm going to get my hair cut or braces off, because i want to surprise people, so they'll talk to me.........writing it down it seems so stupid, i guess i do it because i'm afraid...........

Oh yes.............and i have this weird habit I LOVE ORAL PRESENTATIONS, because i'm not shy when i do them.........i think the main reason why i'm shy is because i can't just come to school not shy.........everyone expects me to be shy, i try so hard to change there expectations, but whenever i talk to people its like they don't realise i've said anything, sometimes they think one of my other friends said it........its so annoying, i mean give me a chance people, i'm trying to overcome my shyness here!

i try that on occasion, however what tends to happen is ill say hi to someone but as soon as said someone tries to have a conversation with me my mind just locks up. even around people that I am moderately comforatable with

I wish I could snap out of it sometimes, but if it does happen, it's only temporary and I feel worse when it ends. I'd rather find ways of making myself more comfortable, and I don't mean by running away. It's really difficult. But I remember in high school I used to just pray that I wouldn't have anxiety the next day at school, I didn't know what they were back then, but I must have had a million panic attacks during those 4 years.

Yeah i've done that loads before. The only time i've ever had the nerve to not be shy was in school. The teacher noticed and announced to the class "Anna has lost the plot". Definately won't be doing that again.

Seems like something I would have done, first with my friends, with the intention of working my way up to my crush. Pffft...

If I just talk to people I have no problem but if I start thinking aboutwhat I am saying then I either clam right up or I talk non stop.

My problem is I talk to people but if I feel like they are not listening I clam up since it makes me feel that I am boring.

I always plan to do this, but then I usually chicken out at the last moment.

It used to happen with me a lot of times, but not anymore now because what I figured out is...if you know what you are going to talk and how you are going to talk then it’s not going to be that much difficult. For example if you have any question to ask then it's going to be very simple to start conversation with anyone, if you don't know anything or want to know anything then a simple wish or introducing yourself is going to work. Well they are like us, normal people not dangerous enemies or animals. Louies. _________ Self Help Zone
