"the average joe: the joe's strike back" premires june 28th
Stunning 26-year-old red-headed Anna is looking for love. Can she find it with an average Joe? Watch as this unsuspecting model is surprised by the arrival, not of traditional leading men, but by a swarm of well-intentioned average Joes. The enthusiastic guys hope to woo and win her over with their charm and personalities. But first, they'll have to navigate through an all-new series of dramatic challenges, outrageous surprises - and their toughest competition yet - seven strikingly handsome jocks who are cocky and confident that Anna will only have eyes for them.
Plus, each week one lucky Joe gets a total makeover and surprises Anna with his new look. With plenty of romance, a trip to Tahiti and new twists at every turn, this new season promises lots of summer fun. Hunks beware, the Joes are fighting back!

I watched it sometimes and found it to be rather mean spirited. I'm not sure how staged the model type's actions were but it was pretty cold the way they would say that they were flat out better than the nerdy guys. It's hard for me to believe that anyone would feel that way or even say it blatantly so it made me think "scripted".
I'm liking Beauty and the Geek a lot more. It still shows the dorky guys being socially inept but they aren't given as much criticism or are being percieved as complete losers, since the "beauties" are supposed to be getting something from the experience too.

I think it was over here once. I'm not sure whether it was the original or a remake but I couldn't stomach the assumption that beautiful people are 'better' people. That normal people are underlings to grovel before the greatness of beauty.
There's a show over here called Celebrity Love Island. Basically z-list celebs on an island with the possibility that some might find love. I have never witnessed such pointless people in all my life. Looking at some of them you think "wow, she's gorgeous" then after a while you realise that they are pretty much nothing more.
Maybe they should reverse it and have an 'average joe' trying to pick someone out from a group of 'beauties' by trying to find someone interesting if not possessing a personality.
Ok I appreciate that's a stereotype but it grates me that everything revolves around image these days. Not to mention the fact there is a perverse perpetuation of what is beautiful. Maybe I'm just bitter but airbrushed airheads don't do it for me.

I've seen about 10 minute of that show, and I dont want to see anymore. Hardly a brain cell between them.
Mind you I dont think there are enough letters in the alphabet to express the list these celebrities belong to. I mean you have one women who's only famous because she had an affair with a famous footballer, and another famous for once being the girlfriend of a TV presenter who has been cleared of a rape charge.

Here are this season's contestants. Apparently the Jason one used to be pretty shy. SOmeone really social phobic probably wouldn't apply, but I bet some of these guys are to an extent. Same with Beauty and the Geek. Social phobia is probably how some of them get that way and are seen as socially different from what is "normal".

those contestants arent as bad as the old ones like David Daskle. I would say i would be an above average joe cause im not fat , im somewhat athletic , i am smart which could classify me as nerdy, but as far as personality im probly a below average joe. and i would have avoidant tendencies with the lady.

I thought the shows came out awful. Both girls from each show chose to be with the "hunk".

Honestly, those guys from the previous seasons didn't seem "average" to me. They just seemed to pick the more interesting ones...the ones they could pick fun at. I think it's cruel. And yet, I end up watching it anyway.

Yeah, I think a lot of people have that mentality with reality shows. It's so mean, why am I watching this? I get that with the MTV show Next. This girl eliminated this guy after a few seconds because she didn't like red hair. wtf?
I thought the Contender was really good but sad in a few parts. Sucks it didn't get renewed despite being one of the best reality shows as far as being put together and content goes.

Oh gosh...I've seen a few of those Next episodes. It's so stupid the way they dumped some just because they judged by their looks right off the bat. On one show this girl measured the guy's Body Mass Index..the BMI. And if he wasn't at or under a certain number she got rid of him. This one guy wasn't fat or anything but his BMI didn't meet her expectations, so she automatically dumped him....it was so dumb. I couldn't believe she actually did that.

As a shy person it kind of sucks to see someone who is that picky and doesn't think twice about it.

I would like to see an "Average Jane" show but that would never happen.
Yeah, seriously. I thought that too. They would never dare do that! They'll never show the non-popular girls or the girls that have always been picked on. And they would certainly not dare to ever have any over-weight girls on there either. All those girls on the dating shows are beautiful, wear make-up, are thin and are just well, attractive and normally pretty outgoing.

Average Jane i think they did one like that called Average Joe Adam Returns but the women were above average and all the below average ones were eliminated quickly. sorry thats how men operate things.
