I just got back from V for Vandetta. I thought it was great; it's amazing that the same people who made that POS The Matrix made this. There was a lot more focus on the story than the action, although the action was great. But what I didn't like was that it implied Guy Fawkes was some kind of hero. The ending kind of disturbed me too, I agree with what Roger Ebert said about it. " Why the mask does not limit his peripheral vision is a question I will leave for the experts" "Behind it is the actor Hugo Weaving, using his voice and body language to create a character, but I was reminded of my problem with Thomas the Tank Engine: If something talks, its lips should move." Haha thaaaat Roger Ebert I never heard of Guy Fawkes until I read articles about this movie. I didnt know how to feel about the end, was it an act of a revolution or an act of terrorism? ~i.a. I think it was an act of revolution, only because the government there had gone way too far in oppressing the people. It seemed justifiable that one should stand up to that government. And I'm assuming no one was in the Parliament at the time so no innocent people were killed. And I actually had heard of Guy Fawkes, but I was a history major in college and took a class on British history. But I'm curious, do people still celebrate Guy Fawkes day in Britain?

And I'm assuming no one was in the Parliament at the time so no innocent people were killed. So then why do it? Sutler and Creedy were both dead by that point (although Evey probably didn't know it), so the dictatorship was done for anyway. It's not so much that it doesn't make sense to blow up Parliament in the movie, but it kind of comes off as an advertisement for anarchy. If no one was in the World Trade Center, would it be okay to ram a plane into it? Whatever. I liked the movie a lot but the ending kind of disturbed me. On a positive note, I now have a thing for bald chicks.

'The Long Weekend' starring Chris Klein: horribly cliched, gross-out visuals and humour 'Cry_Wolf': worth seeing but nothing too special; not very frightening at all 'Hostel': if you love horror movies DEFINATELY go see this! It's worth every dollar

I watched King Kong, I thought it was pretty good, great special effects, it kept me entertained. I watched this twice in theatres (once with friends, once with family). The first time was entertaining but the 2nd was kind of tortorous....waayyyyyy too long! I cried both times though.....I wouldn't watch it again ever! I hate sad endings and long movies and it's a combination of the two. Gahh.

I went to a Jewish film festival tonight and saw "Walk on Water," a movie about a Mossad agent. It was decent, I guess, very good looking with good cinematography, but light on plot with too many red herrings.
This was funny...The audience was about 90% elderly Jewish people. At one point in the movie, one of the characters gives a rather detailed description of anal sex. I had to fight to hold back laughter, thinking about the old people sitting around me watching the scene. ;D

Just saw "Slithers" today. The only thing i can say for it is that it's pretty entertaining. I would classify it as horror/sci fi/comedy. Pretty weird mix of genres huh? lol There was a little dash of romance thrown in there too, b/c hey, why not?
Anyways, this movie did not take itself seriously at all, it's more like a popcorn flick. It's pretty nasty though b/c it's about aliens taking over people and stuff and the alien "eggs" or whatever were slimy sluggy nasty gross things! They made my skin crawl. Also there's this one scene with this lady who was so fat that she literally exploded into millions of tiny little slugs. IT was quite gross....

I watched Doom a few days ago, I can't say it was that good, but I wouldn't expect anything with The Rock to be good.
I just watched Fantastic 4, I wasn't sure if i'd like it but I thought it was quite good, it was entertaining.

I just watched Freaks for the first time, I liked it a lot.I never knew it is only an hour, quite short.
And I watched The Sweet Hereafter and I have no idea how I never watched that movie earlier. That was one of the most moving and incredible movies I have ever watched. It was made in 1997, and the sad thing is that Titanic won Best Picture that year (I think). Its about a small town's bus accident tragedy. WOW...I mean, wow. Its sooo incredible. Its a must see!

Pick that up if you ever get the chance.

I saw The Squid and The Whale a few days ago. Great movie, not a "lets all sit around the tv kids and watch a movie" type of movie, hehe. *** 1/2 stars I saw Shopgirl also, I had high hopes for this one, I liked the book and I like Claire Danes and Jason Schwartzman and I liked the fact that Danes' character was shy. Buuuuuut it was very blah. It had its moments, so of them were really good, but all in all it could have been a lot better than it was. ** stars I also saw/bought Match Point *sigh* The ending still bugs me though...however I still give it **** stars ;D ~i.a.

I saw Shopgirl on Friday. There were some really funny parts but overall I was disappointed. 6/10Though, I must say: Claire Danes was looking mighty fine in this movie. ;D
