Starting to try this...anything I should know? I really don't want to go back to my old overpaid psychiatrist and get prescriptions for Prozac...starting to take this because I can't seem to get rid of my depression...though sometimes I can't really tell unless my appetite is so bad, I'm eating 2 small meals a day. Recently found this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysthymia and it seems to ring very clearly with what I seem to have.

don't take the drug with other anti-depressant type drugs ..you probably already knew that but thought i'd say it anyway
this also elevates liver enzymes so if you're on any other drug that is liver metabolized it will increase it's metabolism (degradation) faster..so if you are put on any other meds make sure to tell the doctor that you're already taking these supplements
i've been taking them without any problems and they help me so hope they help you too

Taking it on and off...sometimes I forget or don't care enough. I thought it was pretty obvious the way I typed it that I was and am not taking any other anti-depressants right now. Prozac's side effects are too annoying for me.

I have been taking 900mg a day of st.john's wort for apprx. two weeks along with one b complex, ginseng complex, a multivitamin, and maybe two passionflowers a day. However, I have noticed my face is starting to break out so I don't know I'm thinking of lowering the dosage of st. john's wort to maybe 300mg a day. But I do find my mood/anxiety has somewhat improved but haven't seen a drastic change just yet.
Is it ok to drink white wine while taking st. john's wort??

Just for the record, I tried this and it did nothing for me (I purchased a high quality brand, too). It's another one of those supplements that has a strong effect on some, but absolutely no effect on others (like melatonin as a sleep aid). You'll never know until you try for yourself.

Be careful not to destroy your kidneys with drugs.. This is why alcohol or pills aren't really viable, unless you go prescription and do low-intake.
I personally don't see it working.. I take most of the vitamins and minerals daily in chewables and see no change.. My grandma use to get SJW from catalogs a lot and had problems too..
I'm at the point of writing most off the shelf stuff off as placebos, or too low dosage..
