I bought a webcam three months ago yet haven't worked up the courage to use it the way I hoped I would. It's a fairly high-end one too, a Logitech HD Pro C920. I thought that maybe if I had a webcam, I might use it to record a video to post on this very forum but unfortunately that proved too difficult a task for me. It's such a shame because everything else has been going fairly well in my life lately but I guess I still have major issues with seeing myself in a picture, moving or otherwise... ( not to mention hearing myself which is a very weird thing to me ) In the beginning I tried to record short videos where I just introduce myself and such but after listening to them they all ended up in the recycle bin. I quickly gave up and haven't tried again since then.
It's such an annoyance ( to say the least ) when you have so little self-esteem that when you see yourself in a mirror or a picture, you only see the flaws. And when people look at you, you can't help but feel that they must be thinking the worst possible things about you. Of course parts of you know that's not the case ( for the most part though I guess we all have to live with the fact that there are always going to be assholes in this world ) but you just can't help but think this way because that's how you've always thought and that little voice inside you is just too powerful... Which brings me to the video I'm going to post here because it pretty much deals with that topic as well as awkwardness in general. You guys might have seen it before since it's already a couple months old but in case you haven't I think you'll find it rather interesting :
