So recently, after a little ear bashing by my brother, he said to me I should go out more and find out things as I don't know things about everyday life. He asked me to go the pharmacy and ask for a repeat prescription, so I handed in the paper but got lost as the woman at the desk confused me. Everything worked out in the end, and the medicines were brought successfully. However, made me realise that I am so introverted that I don't know the basic things of life. I've passed my driving but wouldn't have a clue about how to put petrol in, sort out insurance etc. The little nuts and crannies of life, I don't know how things work at all. To substitute for this, I go on the internet and try to find out as I'm too embarrased to ask people about these little tings. Anyone feel the same?

Everything takes a little practice it just seems easier for other people.
Well, that's good. I usually don't have a problem asking strangers for help or directions. I've found that more often than not they're usually pretty easy to deal with. Especially, if you're out in public at a store or restaurant. They deal with first time customers everyday. Good luck.

It can happen to anyone especially for the shy and naive bunch. Don't worry, it's a good thing you learn all those things on your own, before, I tend to bemoan those experiences when my elders throw me out of those embarrasing situations like that, but then as you grow older, you will realize that it's for your own good and that situations are necessary for your own learning if you want to be independent--so that you know what to do later on if that happens to you again.

Yeah, I definitely do feel similar. Living on my own helps, as I'm forced to do certain things. But not being interactive with people still stunts my growth and knowledge about things. I think that life is a continuous process of learning, though. As we get older, there's always something new we'll be up against and may need to try to learn about...whether that means talking to people about it and/or doing your own sort of research to figure it out. So, I wouldn't worry so much about it right now...I mean, try not to feel down about this. In a way, I think it's good you've started recognizing this now. Because you can still do something about it. Maybe serve as a bit of motivation to get out there more? (*cough*...I need to do the same! lol, so I totally know the feeling )

Life is all about learning, and growing with each and every good, and bad experience. The next time you visit the pharmacy, you'll now know what to do which is a positive

YES.
it seems to me sometimes that i don't know how to do the basic things other people know...when i first learned to drive, i was afraid to buy a car because i didn't know how. then i was nervous about pumping gas because i never tried it. it always seems like everyone else knows something that i don't know.
but what i've come to learn, by traveling to new cities and just watching people, is that EVERYONE is new to something. the difference between people like us and people out there is that the people out there (the normal people) don't CARE if they don't know something. they just ask.
what i do is i watch people and do what they do. i also bite the bullet and ask, even if i feel stupid. because you know what? there is always someone else listening who pipes up ad says "hey, i was wondering the same thing."
when i first visited san francisco, ca, i was afraid to ride the BART (subway) because i had no idea how the system worked. well, through watching other people i figured out that LOTS of people who use BART are new to it (tourists) and don't know how to use it. so it's ok to ask questions if you don't know something.

I'm the same way, the first time you do something it can be intimidating, but once you do it the first time, it's easier every time after that. Plus everyone has to learn...... well everything, there is no secret that other people have that you dont, (even though it feels like that sometimes ) you learn as you are forced (by life) to do things. Don't worry about what you don't know yet. huh, this reminds me of an old country song:

I'm still pretty clueless about a lot of things too...but I'm slowly getting there....slowly.

I feel exactly the same way I can do a lot of things that people can't do but the little things that every one does I find them difficult to do I'm always confused about them and am always embraced to ask someone for help because they will make fun of me. For one thing I have been living in this city all my life and still hardly know the direction for anywhere.
