I always love when you think about a word too much and then become confused about it's spelling, etc.

Note: Shyness is a categorization of resulting states within a complex system (our brain). A single solution will not work for everyone.
Also, I personally don't ever want to be one of those people who mistakenly treads on others by being dumb-bold... My social timing is slow enough that that's often my only non-shy option. (Sometimes shyness is a path chosen not just out of fear).
I was interested in the comment about not looking people in the eye. That's generally a less assertive stance - even though you sound like you're pushing assertiveness...

I wish I was a level 70 in warcraft I wish I was a programmer of WoW - why be a player when you can be a god.

also, if you're serious about lowering anxiety levels, make sure you don't use caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate, etc.), because it increases anxiety levels. Guess it's a good thing I'm more on the 'accepting anxiety' side of things...

Actually I'm not a fan of nasal spray either... I usually just sneeze it back out right after. (My nose hair is 'great' ). Now it's kind've like when the doctor goes to give you the burst-of-air-in-the-eye glaucoma test and tells you not to wince - it's only air as if I didn't know that and that would help the psychology of the situation.

That reminds me - I listened to an article (can't from where) where they talked about using a drug to deter the production of something in the brain... what the effect was, was that it helped mice unlearn fears quicker that they would otherwise have done. As to Sweet Pea's question: I think, if I had a good knowledge of the length of the effect, I might experiment with it selectively and see what the results are. I have, at time, abused chocolate caffeine and sugar when I need to power code. I also tend to get more obnoxious, easily unpleasant (when aggrevated), and have major mood swings. (It's a good thing I tend to work at home). My fear would be that I'd be too de-inhabited.

Why are you sharing your opinion if you don't believe people should have opinions? Read your statement, then read mine. Hint: I'm being facetious...

Alcohol is a filthy drug which I wish would be outlawed, but unfortunately never will be as most people wont let it happen as they are alcoholics (whether they realise it or not). Opinions are a filthy practice which I wish would be outlawed, but unfortunately never will be as most people won't let it happen as they are opinionated (whether they realise it or not). For ref: I don't drink as I'm afraid of losing my inhibitions - you'd surely find a naked dead man on the floor - woot!.

I almost wonder if this person sees you as competition in some form... or is just generally grumpy and your happiness is ruining their whoah-is-life party. (If the person is more on the sociopathic end of the spectrum they may try to subdue or ruin you). If you are generally just being amicable / making the work-place more enjoyable, then she should have no problem with you. This is generally a helpful attribute in any work environment... If the person really is an issue, then in an ideal world, this person should be repremanded by her superiors and you should be given an out. Unfortunately, the world is not ideal and this isn't always possible. In such a case you may have to evaluate whether the situation is worth maintaining.

I'm curious though - do you do nothing at all on the weekends or is it that you don't do anything social?
