My answer is obviously obvious lol. Cats. Because I like when they purr and knead. If I had my own home though, I probably would have both cats and maybe one dog, like when I lived at home. I'm too depressed as a rule to be able to have a dog. A dog needs a lot of looking after, walking it and so forth. Not that cats don't require anything, but they are very independent, and should do well as long as one feeds, waters, makes their litter box up, gives them a bed, and some petting, etc. That said, although in my apartment, pets are allowed, I'm still holding back on getting a cat. I would like to have one though, at some point. I'm just not ready, just yet, lol.

My choice is obvious: I love people. Even more than other dogs! I do like meeting other dogs, but I absolutely positively love meeting people and watching them do things. It does confuse me when people throw balls, however. Our neighbor's girls like to throw balls around in the yard, and it really hurts my neck watching them go back and forth throwing those round spherical objects of happiness to each other. I really want to join in, but i never can seem to defeat the fence gate latch. It's very sophisticated and complicated looking.

After my last cat passed away, I decided that I'd not get another pet as I generally can't handle ... er ... well ... anything in general. . . . The four legged tribbles* (especially one stray female we had to 'fix' up) would have none of it... *species: catus tribbleus. . . (About half of the cats that currently reside here). D:

I do love both, but at this stage in my life I think it's definitely cats. They can be very independent, yet attentive and loving (in a 'ah, here is my slave...feed me now' sort of way). lol I feel the same way. I do like the both - my older posts notwithstanding hahaha. We had a big German Shepherd/Golden Lab at home - so I grew up with that dog in the house and for all the teasing I did when I was at my scampiest (age 12/13), he never once bit me! Our first pet was a cat, Tinkerbell, and then we got Penny, the aforementioned mix, a year later. The first thing that happened when we got home with him as a little pup was that Tinkerbell chased him down the basement and pretty near scratched his eyes out. But after he got bigger, he put her in her place - lol. Right now, where I live (7th floor) dogs are not allowed up here although they're allowed on lower floors. I can have a cat, if I want. If I was living in my own home, in the country, had my own car, and so forth (a pipe dream for me since I do not drive), I would have a dog and a couple of cats:). Oops - I should have realized I answered this before. But I DID want to reply to Slinky though:).

Well I still prefer cats I think. It's been 8 years since I lost my cat. It doesn't sound right to me, calling them a pet. She was a member of the family, and I have never really felt comfortable 'replacing' her with another animal. So I haven't.
Having said all that, I could see myself getting a dog for company and companionship in my old age. No way now, as I'm not keen on the idea of leaving one at home all day whilst I'm at work.
