Hi Everybody, I am new to this site and a little nervous and wanted to get an opinion because I did not want my friends to be weird to me if I told them, but I am thinking about signing up for some courses that deal with how to be more assertive at work and with my friends. Is this something that anybody has ever done or would consider doing? Is this something you guys would ever pay for? Thank you for any advice or input!

Well, i did buy a book once on how to be assertive. Would that count? I can't say that i was able to follow all that was said in the book though. I don't think it would hurt to try though if that's what you really want. If you're desire is strong enough, i think it may help you. What i do remember about the book was that being assertive is somewhere in the middle of being angry/too aggresive and being timid/too passive. It's about acknowledging your own right and self worth relative to other people. Treating yourself equal with other people.
Hmmm, but i think i did also join some speech class or personality development courses before. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to try. I think it works for some people.
