Why is this not part of formal education?

Yes, that's good.
I studied it once... how to think up questions to ask people. I didn't get to far. I was disappointed by not knowing how to get past the small talk, and get to the big talk. But I should studied it again. Maybe i'll do better this time.
You know, when he comes out and blurts, "what's the meaning of life". You know, i'm so like that. I only think about deep stuff like that, so i'm not too interested in the weather.

Urgh...just no and I'll tell you why. I have always believed if you have something to say make it something worth saying. Small talk to me is a waste of my time and the other person's time. I may express a viewpoint that nobody else holds, but I bet if I tallied up the amount of hours or minutes spent engaged in small talk in my life thus far, there would be enough time to dedicate to something more meaningful. That is just my opinion on the matter.

That is just my opinion on the matter. I don't know if I really like small talk. But there are times when you are waiting for something and there is nothing to do but small talk. I'd like to be able to do it well enough to avoid the awkward.

Anyone have advice on small talk?? I’m not sure I have real advice, since I rarely initiate small talk. The only thing I do if it seems more awkward to not make small talk is say like “good morning” or something basic like that. I figure if they answer with additional small talk then they want to small talk. If not, then they don’t, and we’re both okay with not talking, therefore it’s not awkward anymore.

I am to nervous to speak and my mind goes blank and that minute feels like an forever!!! Also, asking to much questions like in the video people notice it and get irratated answering questions. Anyone have advice on small talk?? I feel similarly. I find myself I hate small talk. I put up with it because I don't want people to think I am rude or don't care about them. I also as in the video get irritated answering questions. I prefer just two people just talking about whatever (especially deep things) but leave any necessary enquiries open ended so I don't have to answer a yes or a no and then they want to know why I don't (whatever question they are asking about my life that is not in the affirmative such as 'are you working?" - ugh I hate that one so much. I feel guilty enough about being unemployed because of health problems that for the most part people cannot see (they usually only see or accept it if a person is in a wheelchair, is blind, etc - well that is my observation anyway), without this reminding me! And another reason I hate questions is because I simply do not want to answer them and I cannot find a non offensive way to say "none of your business" and I end up answering something I would rather not.
