I learned what the word schizoid means en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizoid_personality_disorderIt is a person who prefers to be alone and emotionally distant. This word sounds similar to schizophrenic (someone who hears or sees things that aren't real) but it is very different. Do you see any Schizoid characteristics in yourself? Shy people are often called "antisocial" but this is not the correct word to use because what antisocial really means is someone who does things that are harmful to society en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-social_behaviour

I think i see some characteristics of Schizoid in myself. I can be aloof and cold. Detached and emotionally distant. Most of the time would prefer to be alone. Maybe because it's less stressful? But i do enjoy some good company when the opportunity presents itself.
Sometimes i see myself as anti social when i reject offers to go out with other people though. But i know having read the wiki before that it has more to do with harming others. Still the term anti-social kinda make you think it has more to do with a person who dislikes social interactions.

Most definitely. Antisocial does have mixed meanings I agree, with both being ascribed to people who prefer not to be sociable to increasing degrees, and the 'grotty kids on the council estate throwing bottles, bothering grannies, smashing car windows, ASBO-ankle-tagged little sh*ts'.
If I was labelled 'schizoid' myself, it would most certainly lead to jumping to conclusions and being linked to schizophrenia. Thus being given a wide berth by one and all. Which would probably be a blessing anyway, being generally adverse to the majority of the human population.
Swings and roundabouts.
