Anyone ever done this before? And if so, what were your reasons? Did the employer accept your decision?
Just curious as I've recently turned down a job offer (the second this year in fact). The first was due to the office being a 2 hour journey on a good day (!) and the second mostly due to me having a gut feeling of it not being the right place for me and some other red flags during the interview process.

Hi Sigh, I personally haven't done it myself, but I have always trusted that gut feeling you mentioned. To be honest if it ended up being a long term job, travelling time can be a big factor with energy levels as well. Hope you are doing ok? much love Zoe

Hi Zoey, Good to see you around Yeah, it was a permanent position and I have a history of agoraphobia and panic attacks so it was too much for me personally. The second job, their HR team reacted really badly to my rejection (which further cemented that I had made the right choice). Constant emails asking why (after being given the reason that I felt it wasn't the right position for me which should have been enough) and implying I'd almost lead them on and asking if I'd been offended by anything during the interview process which was all rather odd. Thankfully after I stopped responding to their emails they left me alone (moved onto another candidate I presume). Mostly I'm ok, pandemic has left me a little tense but other than that I'm doing pretty well. Hopefully the next job offer will be the right one Hope you are ok too?

Would have hated to hear you be stuck in that environment. Speaking of agoraphobia, there was a period in my life where it made it difficult to find and keep a job, have a change of scenery or even step out of the house and take a few steps to the mailbox to check the mail. It took me over 2 years to have some normality and with the situation in Australia, I haven't stepped out of the house for the last 4 months. Spoke with my psychologist recently and she has been recommending me to use visualisation (baby steps) to minimise the fear of heading back into the city for work. This might be likely in October as our current state lockdown restriction lifts. Ugggghhhhhh....not looking forward to it at all, but you gotta work to pay the bills. Wishing you the best for the next job interview/job offer!!
