At least we're all under 40 I suppose and still have a good bit of life left.
You're right though Kris I wish time would slow down.

Thanks, everyone. Been a bit busy gorging on chocolate cake... Happy Birthday Spork, you're now a quarter of a century old, how does it feel ? It's miserable when you can start measuring your age with the word 'century'. At least my next one, half a century, won't occur until 2040. And the big one in 2090. Although if I'm still alive in 2090, I'll probably be a head in a jar... I don't know how I feel, really. Don't think I've ever felt 'older' on a new birthday, which is a really weird feeling. When I look in the mirror, I never think I look 'older', just taller. But when I look at old photos, I look younger. It's quite disorientating. I certainly don't feel 25. Probably about 18. Probably because I haven't done much or really moved that much since then... Pffft. I turned 31 on the 12th. We share the same birthday. I'm 32. Spork being old... No, I'm not - I never thought I'd live this long. I nearly set my hair on fire blowing out my birthday candles. I've had that many accidents and mishaps over the years that 25 is old relative to the time I probably should've lived. I woke up on my birthday with a bad back and aching joints. When I walked down the stairs, my ankles and knees were clicking and popping like crazy. I was hunched over most of the morning - I could've done with a walking cane. Going back up the stairs left me out of breath. And I did no vigorous exercise the day before. And then the family and I went out for a Sunday lunch at the local picturesque water barrage. Afterwards, I went to get some photos. As a keen amateur photographer, I like to get photos from all angles. Some I had to kneel down to get. Honestly, you would not believe how long it took me to get up. Body still cracking and creaking... I'd say I have the body of an 80-year-old, but that's probably unfair on the 80-year-old. Okay, when I was little, I wanted to be a grown-up... but bloody hell! Could time slow down a bit? kthxbai I never wanted to be a grown-up and I never will be. Young, wild and free forever! Now if you excuse me, I'm going for my third afternoon nap. Knitting doesn't half tire you out...

I don't really feel 31, though. I still feel about half my age, and not in a good way.

I can relate to having a body that feels older. I have written here about how I've had issues with my back... I'm also prone to high blood pressure, and my hair is graying prematurely (inherited trait). I also feel tired a lot, which I lump in with my apathy/mild depression issues. When I look in the mirror, I'm often surprised to see a young-ish face. I expect to be more washed out looking. If we think it's bad now, what will it be like 30 years from now? I keep telling myself I need to start exercising again and eat better. I'm pretty much on the path to needing a cane when I'm 60 if I don't become more active and pro-active about my health.

I don't really feel 31, though. I still feel about half my age, and not in a good way. I'm split about feeling older or younger. In some ways I feel older, because of some health issues, but also I have some "older" interests (reading newsmagazines, subscribing to a newspaper, for example). In other ways I'm younger because I have not had the same experiences others had. I hate admitting this, but when I have a social encounter I sometimes feel like a child, because I'm not sure how to act and I'm looking for the other person to drive the (social) situation. I don't feel like there's much I can do about that. Also, I can have a goofy sense of humor.

I can relate to having a body that feels older. I have written here about how I've had issues with my back... I'm also prone to high blood pressure, and my hair is graying prematurely (inherited trait). I can sympathise. I found a ginger hair in my stubble the other day. And then quite a few more. Yet my hair is naturally dark brown. It's just as bad as going grey *ducks for cover* If you think grey hair is bad, baldness, bad eyesight, migraines, arthritis, appendicitis and tonsillitis run in my family. I have a very large family and I'm quite literally one of only a handful not to have all of those. Bad eyesight and migraines. Appendicitis is only a matter of time... Not looking forward to that. Primarily because my dad told me two years ago when I was rushed into hospital with suspected appendicitis that his stitches burst open after he woke up after his appendectomy. Not a pleasant thought, is it? I've had that many accidents and mishaps over the years that 25 is old relative to the time I probably should've lived. I woke up on my birthday with a bad back and aching joints. When I walked down the stairs, my ankles and knees were clicking and popping like crazy. I also feel tired a lot, which I lump in with my apathy/mild depression issues. When I look in the mirror, I'm often surprised to see a young-ish face. I expect to be more washed out looking. I'm constantly tired, too. But I have low blood sugar, so that probably explains it. Sugar crashes are the worst, especially in public. I'm pretty much on the path to needing a cane when I'm 60 if I don't become more active and pro-active about my health. Aye, but the way I see it is 'live fast die young'. 80 years of salad then death, versus 30 years of bacon sandwiches then death. That might sound bad, but consider this: I've never been happy after eating a salad. But after eating bacon? I couldn't be happier! I'd take a slice of bacon over a million pounds any day of the week... In fact, I want to be buried in a bacon shaped coffin. I don't really feel 31, though. I still feel about half my age, and not in a good way. I'm split about feeling older or younger. In some ways I feel older, because of some health issues, but also I have some "older" interests (reading newsmagazines, subscribing to a newspaper, for example). I hate admitting this, but when I have a social encounter I sometimes feel like a child, because I'm not sure how to act and I'm looking for the other person to drive the (social) situation. I don't feel like there's much I can do about that. So do I. I'm constantly judging how to behave in a certain situations in my head. There's a constant internal monologue. 'Okay, I think you're supposed to do this'. 'No, wait, that was a bad idea - do this'. 'Okay, you know what, this isn't going well, just give up'. It's not natural, so when you try to do those things, it comes across as fake and you look really ungainly and awkward. It's not a great way to live, really. I think it depends on different things. I have good days and bad days. On good days, I feel like I can do anything. But on bad days, everything goes wrong. That said, I do feel more confident when I'm home alone and mum and dad are away. I have to do more and go to more places. I always feel more grown up in that time. Shyness is a strange thing. I don't really feel 31, though. I still feel about half my age, and not in a good way. Also, I can have a goofy sense of humor. Don't worry, so do I. Something readers of my blogs have pointed out to me on several occasions. 'What the hell did I just read? That was insane!' Hey, I take it as a compliment... A-thank you... --- Ooh, my Simpsons DVD birthday present just arrived! Woohoo! 17 and counting...
