I'm going to see a Broadway show tomorrow. Did you have a good time? I did! I'm still getting used to traveling into NYC, but I enjoyed seeing Annie. Jane Lynch was great as the headmistress of the orphanage. Who doesn't like when everything important can be solved through song? Sample: President Roosevelt: "One fourth of the nation is jobless, industries are collapsing. What are we going to do?" Secretary of the Treasury: "Mr. President, I suggest we..." Annie: "Tomorrow..." President Roosevelt: "What's that, Annie?" Annie: "The sun'll come out, tomorrow! Bet your bottom dollar, that tomorrow.. there'll be sun!" President Roosevelt: " Great suggestion, Annie!"

I think i did it as a knee jerk reaction from my title in the yearbook "Quietest person". Take that in your face, people labellers (generally the popular kids). I didn't do too bad so i have been told. Jane Lynch has an amazing voice.

The somewhat unexpected return of the kind of hot weather not really seen for years here, the grass in the garden is brown and parched. Apparently this kind of summer may become the norm over the next few decades. One major issue however could be even more stress on water supplies in some areas, which already sometimes occurs.

Should try being here in the northeast where we've had a five day heatwave that's due to carry on until the middle of next week.
Every day for the last five days it has not dropped below 26, hitting 31 on one day. During the night it's been consistently above 20. Right now, it's 23. It's unbelievable. And I'm not well, I could really do with a typical British summer. Make things a lot easier. Cold, wet miserable days are so much better.
I never know with global warmer what's going to happen to us. I saw one documentary that said it was going to be snow and arctic conditions and another that said sun and desert conditions. If it's the latter, I'm moving to lovely cold Sweden.
Looks lovely on the Euros competition on telly...

I've just walked away from an online argument with a crazy person. I informed them of my intentions and that I was fed up of them.
But instead of saying goodbye, I got a chance to use a favourite phrase of mine that I haven't been able to use in normal conversation before.
That's what I love.
Toodle-pip, fruitloops...

Something very random, the version of the bbc2 television ident with the car going through the tunnel. The nighttime version of this at 5.30 AM is longer and more mournful sounding than in daytime. The channel is off air at that hour, but the clips of "upcoming" programmes are still exactly the same, and show ones that were broadcast months ago. Odd really, as that time of night used to show regularly updated pages from analogue ceefax.

Standard or HD channel? I might set it to record. Give it a watch. Got nothing better to do tomorrow. It's something, I guess.
I don't know why they don't just shut the channel down. It's not gonna do any harm, is it? I do remember the Ceefax but when analogue was switched off, it went with it.
I think they think nobody is watching so they can do what they want. I wouldn't be surprised if I switched it on one day and the intern in charge was staring back at me.
"Erm, Dave, something's gone wrong."

Wow, they are different. All the idents are considerably more atmospheric. I quite like them. They are longer too.
The driftwood one is a piano key that sounds like something you'd hear in a Hollywood movie before a bomb goes off. It's also reminds me of Countdown.
The sunroof one is a guitar riff and a light drum beat turning into a marching band drum beat.
The tent one is another guitar riff and drum combo, but lighter and quite catchy. Then a mad pianist takes over and all hell breaks loose.
The carousel is very new-age and 'hippy'. The sort of sound that makes you realize you're up too late.
The car tunnel one is very post-rock-esque. Considerably different, too.
I did some research into this. During the channels 'off-hours' they use the original ident music which was used until March this year. They dumped this music in place of pop songs but carried on using it when no one is watching. Apparently, this all received criticism online.
Each ident has three versions, apparently.
The one's during the day are by a band called Alt-J.
Something like that, anyway.
I think it needs an update anyway. Although Beeb 2 has only been using these idents for five years, they feel like they've been with us for decades. I think they need a new identity. I just can't understand the idents they have now. In fact, all their channels have pants idents. Look at BBC4. They haven't changed since they launched and it gives you a headache. And the less said about BBC3 and it's bright pink logo, the better.

I was saving my 300th post on another forum for a special occasion coming up, but I had to post something which bumped up my post counter from 299 to 300. I mentioned how saddened I was that I wouldn't get my 300th on that special occasion. So what did the moderator do? Turned it back to 299. Don't know how he did it, but it was really sweet and made me do this...
