it's good to know that there's a website dedicated to the shy/anxiety issue. For as long as i can remember, i've been a shy and reserved person, and it has set me way back in life. I'm a high school senior going to college this fall, so i'm making a conscious effort to overcome my shyness and become a new person, socially. Because of my shy/reserved nature, people often brand me as being arrogant, and they end up disliking me cuz of that...but it's beyond my control. I'm involved in my school's student government and frequently i always cultivate great ideas, but because of my shyness those ideas are never realized. Because of my shyness, when i'm asked to do presentations in class, and i often refuse to do so, other students often get the impression that i'm this selfish and competitive guy, who doesnt share information with other students. I'm gonna be the valedictorian, and i'm afraid i won't be able to accept this position, cuz of my fear of public speaking. I don't even go out much, cuz i also suffer from social anxiety, for some strange reason. Whenever i'm out in public, i'm so self conscious that sometimes i look like an idiot, and my heart pounds so fast with fear...So you can see that it's affecting me academically, and as an individual.
I recently heard of subliminal hypnotic CDs that can be used to help one become more confident and assertive in their everyday lives. My question is: Do they work? Is there anyone that overcame shyness by listening to these hypnotic stuff? And which hypnotic audio files would u recommend that i buy?
