Here are some links to help you do your little bit for the world. 1 - Blackle It's a search engine that uses a Google search, but the screen is black. The point? Because of the dark screen, less power is needed to display it, thus saving energy/environment.... I think we decided it's not as good as it sounds, but the link is there anyway. 2 - Free Rice This is a little game that will lead to free rice being donated to the United Nations World Food Programme. A word is displayed and for every correct synonym you select, 10 grains of rice get donated. (The money comes from companies who in return get to place a small ad on the bottom of the screen). 3 - Click to Give Works similarly to the free rice game - the donations are made through advertisements being shown on the site. The link i've made here is for animal rescue, but there are several other causes on the site too (literacy, breast cancer, hunger, preserving the rainforests and children's health). It won't take more than 30 seconds and it costs you nothing. Feel free to add your own.

She looks pretty good to me. To be fair, her book is political and (probably) does not mention the website do-gooderism you presented ;D

I'm not interested in that book or the author. Sorry... I just thought some people might like to go on the free rice game.

To be honest, i'm not sure if those sites genuinely donate what they say they will anyway, or whether they just pocket the profit. (Yes, i'm slightly more cynical than I was when I made the original post in Nov 2007).
