Well maybe not a cure or a good one at that. But back when I was really shy,, if I had a few beers it would work. I just wouldn't care and would talk to any woman like I was Don Juan,,
But after too many I was just a Joe average drunk,,lol.

ive actually seen a book on avoidant personality disorder that mentions alcohol as a possible remedy. I dont think that many people would advise that though. you also have to keep in mind that your body builds up tolerance to alchohol .

Alcohol was definitely one way i coped with my anxiety attacks. They wouldn't hit me in the daytime, but come out when i was trying to go to sleep. Then, all the mistakes i had made during the day, all the dumb things i had said for the last week, they all came back to haunt me! I couldn't sleep at all!! I eventually started buying vodka, and sometimes gin, to drink at night and dull my senses enoughso i could relax. Yes, SPG, you're right. But i'd recommend getting drunk once in your life, but keeping count of the number of drinks you have that night. At say, three drinks, i'm done and need no more for relaxation. However, at six, i am thoroughly drunk and need to stop compltetely for the night. Mesaure yourself in a safe environment, and see how much tolerance you have. Then, don't drink too much.

Yeah it can help but I worry about using alcohol as a coping mechanism. It's very easy for it to eventually become a crutch and then you are in more trouble than before. The moment you start drinking because you need to rather than because you enjoy it is when you are best off going without. I know that's kind of obvious but it's worth pointing out even so. You can't spend your whole time drunk. Being able to talk to girls drunk is not improvement. Being able to talk to them sober is.
It's good to know you have the ability to though. Beer doesn't magic up words, it doesn't make you funny. It just relaxes the fear and makes it easier for you to 'be yourself'. So you do have the ability to talk like Don Juan. The ability is within you. You just have to find ways of showing that side of your personality without the need for alcohol or anything else. Conquer the shyness don't mask it.

I have 1 or 2 drinks and feel sleepy. lol It's never boosted my confidence either; what it does do is help me to relax at night, so i can actually rest and not be awake worrying for half the night. However, i'm fixing to start taking a new anxiety medicaton soon. I'll let yall know if it works any.

whats the name of the drug and is it in the class of Benzodiazapines i ve always wanted to have a bottle of Benzos just for emergencys The drug is called Effexcor; my dad has been using it for years now and he's much much better since. Because i'm genetically similiar to him, perhaps the drug will work for me as well. I hope so.

I would definitely say alcohol loosens me up lol. I've never had much of a hangover, mostly because it doesn't take much for me to get loaded. Whether I have fun or not depends on who I'm getting "loaded" (lol) with. I had this one friend, she wouldn't stop crying and I was just drunkenly trying to calm her down the whole night lol, no fun. While it can be fun to get drunk, I don't really like it too much to be honest. I don't like not having control over myself and looking like an ass lol! ;D
