Hi all, been signed up to this site for a while now, and just realised the number of times I've posted is shockingly low. In fact it's a disgrace I'm sure you'll agree! So that's gonna change, starting from now... I'm 23 years old, from Manchester, England. I'm working in various jobs (mainly office stuff) thanks to being on an employment agency - the joys of being shifted from one job to the next! Finished uni last year (Film and Media Studies, very interesting, no job prospects whatsoever) and hoping to go back next year to study Film. Love all kinds of films, although I've got a bit geeky with my tastes since uni - Italian horror films are great, anime stuff which I'd never come across before (Blood: The Last Vampire is my fav ever since I saw it on late night tv ages ago), and my particular fav: a director called Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Amelie's probably his most famous film to date. Well, that and Alien: Ressurection I really enjoy writing, it's been my dream since I was a kid to be a full-time writer one day. Soccer - don't worry I'll keep it short. Man Utd fan, disturbed by Liverpool fans identifying themselves on these boards, it's bad enough Shane supports Arsenal! Only kidding guys! Well, that's pretty much me.

having a low post-count seems natural on this site. i mean, we are here because we're shy..
i've seen amelie. it was good, but it made me realize that for some reason, the french language hurts my ears.
i had heard a lot about blood when it first came out on dvd, but i never saw it. i'm not much into dark anime, except vampire princess miyu. however, if the images aren't too disgusting, i'd like to get the tomie manga. the story sounds interesting.

I know what you mean about the French language, it can be a bit hard on the old ears sometimes. Seems to be a lot of phlegm (spelling? ) involved whenever someone speaks. I can't say I know much about anime to be honest, although at uni I did do a course called 'Extreme Cinema' where we had a lecture from a member of the BBFC - the people who hand out the ratings on films released in Britain. We got to see stuff that was cut out of various films and things never available to the public. A lot of it was dark anime or just plain disturbing anime. It amazes me how talented the people are who work in the industry, and just how many twisted minds work in the stranger part of it.

What is Arsenal? At first, I thought it was some metal band. Is it a soccer/football team in the UK?

Spitzig, yes they're a soccer team. Well, Shane would call them that anyway. I have other names... only joking! For some reason, I've now got an image of the Arsenal players in a metal band, very disturbing

And, Man University--that's a soccer/football team, too. Is it connected to some university? I've read that apparently it's popular enough in the US to have like 4 million fans. But, it seems that's not that big a deal here, as far as actually being profitable to publicize and all. I don't have any interest in sports, but DO like to know what people are talking about. The same guy did Amelie and Alien Resurrection? How can you do such a good job on one and f**k up the other so badly? Actually, Alien was only bad at the end with that cheesy looking baby/monster. I've always thought French sounded beautiful.

Sticking up for the French language - it is the most beautiful sounding language in the world. If you want to hear a language that seems to be based on spitting, listen to Germans speaking.

I love french ... well listening to it, that's it, my knowledge of the language is meagre at best. That doesn't stop me from marvelling at its linguistic beauty, though. German? Awful - but only a personal taste. There might be people (or shoul I say ARE) who like it. What do you people think about Slovan languages (like Russian)? I am in no objective position to judge them. But I really hate ì, š, è, ø, ž and others. Not to mention the sound of them...

I think the most beautiful sounding languages are French and Italian. As far as the slovan languages go, I'm kind of impartial to them Since my boyfriend and his family speaks, Russian, Estonian, and Finnish. They're very sharp and not flowing, like some other languages. They still are interesting to listen to, for me at least.

Slavic languages are annoying to write because of the letter characters.
French is a pretty language, but it a shame that teh French too often presume that in foreign countries everyone will understand them, because French is one of th emost important languages. They often don't care to learn proper English.
Same with Germans though. They presume that everyone knows German because it is one of the major languages. Portuguese and Spanish sounds reasonabe.
But the most fun I like accents. I love accents. It's amusing. I adore the Irish and Scottish accents. Cockney is fun too. Ah..Ghost don't get me started! *Tsk's self*

Slavic languages are annoying to write because of the letter characters. I knew it had to be different from 'Slovan.' Got mixed slavic and slavish though. Good thing you were able to understood. Yeah, writing is a pain. I am no sense-typer and having to use a third characters more sucks. it a shame that teh French too often presume that in foreign countries everyone will understand them, Same with Germans though. And I would add the same goes with the English. You probably have a right to that though. But the most fun I like accents. I love accents. It's amusing. I adore the Irish and Scottish accents. I cannot discern different english accents. But I like 'french' and 'russian' english. There is something ... exotic ... to it.
