Joined this forum a few days ago. I am pleasantly surprised to see many members here having the same problems that I do due to shyness. I am 24 this year and in the final year of varsity life. I have been shy since passing the age of 12. I remember quite vividly I am pretty outgoing when I am below 12. After that, I started to shy away from people and tend to stay around with those closer to me only. I am always making up excuses for not attending class gatherings, family parties and all those functions that expose me to strangers. I am always afraid of saying/doing the wrong things and making a fool of myself. So instead of pple staying away from me due to that, I chose to stay away from them. I know I am being too hard on myself but it just a feeling that I am still trying very hard to eliminate. I am not sure why how I acquire this shyness but I believe it is definitely not hereditary. Everyone in my family is so outgoing. That's all for a quick intro. Hopefully we can encourage one another and I believe one day we can all overcome shyness.

Hey Psychic! Welcome! I'm almost 17 and have been shy for all of my life. I also like avoiding social gatherings because it just seems easier. I'm far too self-conscious. Yeah, I wish for the best for everyone here too. Good luck to you!
