From Unforgiven
Bill Munny (Clint Eastwood): When you kill a man you don't just kill him, you're taking away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

From "Blade Runner"
The line that Rutger Hauer says to the man who tells him "Ah, you are Nexus 6 replicant. I designed your eyes."
Hauer's response "If you could only see what I've seen through your eyes."
Best line I've ever heard.

I've decided to resurrect this thread because I like movie quotes. Here are two I like:
"I think only stupid people have good relationships." -Enid from Ghost World
"You know what's the worst thing about somebody breaking up with you? Is when you remember how little you thought about the people you broke up with and you realize that is how little they're thinking of you. You know, you'd like to think you're both in all this pain but they're just like 'Hey, I'm glad you're gone'." -Jesse from Before Sunrise

From a Fistful of Dollars:
"I don't think it's nice you laughing. You see my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him. Now if you apologize like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it..."

"What do ya mean, funny? Let me understand this cause, I don't know maybe it's me, I'm a little f***ed up maybe, but I'm funny how? I mean, funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh... I'm here to f***kin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?"
Tommy Devito from Goodfellas

Tom Arnold in Austin Powers....."Who does number 2 work for?". Possibly the funniest scene ever recorded on film.

From Munich Avner: Every man we have killed has been replaced. What's the point of killing them if they'll just be replaced? Ephraim: Why cut my nails if they'll grow back?

Here's a quote a shy avoident can relate to,
"I should have gone in. I'm such a chicken. I should have kissed her. I should go knock on her door and just kiss her. It would be romantic. It would be something we'd tell our kids about someday. I'm going to do that right now. [drives away] "

Certain parts like the bit you quoted were hard to watch because they were so real and awkward, there was a similar moment in Sideways which had me covering my face in the cinema as I couldnt watch.

Yes! The part in Adaptation where he tries to ask the waitress out, that was so awkward and basically my worst nightmare about asking a girl out played out on film. I have trouble watching that scene, although I love the film. Sideways is also a good movie for those moments. It makes me weary of trying to start a relationship, because I think that will be me.

Its those awkward moments that make these films good in a way, because they are so powerful and real and I get wrapped up in the film. I agree that its very painful to watch because I can see myself doing exactly the same thing.
