...of course, he was crazy too.... Why are 'the quiet ones' also usually cast as the crazy ones too? ...there was a line in the movie that struck me....he read: "we fear what has already happened to us.".... Yeah, that is a pretty profound quote actually. I find it's very true now I think about it. Heh, good question. If you've seen the movie, you'd see why I felt bad for his character. I don't want to get too graphic, but he was "abused" as a child (pornography). While the ending was supposed to be open-ended, it shows a picture of him and the family he was obsessed with.

Harold from the movie "Harold and Maude" is shy. He is soft spoken, has no friends, and his mother even consults a computer system to find him dates. Then he meets Maude and she helps him see there is more to life than being obsessed with death (attending funerals and staging mock suicides).

I'm so going to have to check out some of the movies listed here that I have not seen yet. Anyway...not too long ago I came across this new movie (not sure when it's supposed to come out)...but it is supposed to be about a guy with SA. From www.imdb.com/title/tt1020961/...Plot summary: "A former high school Mr. Popular who has squandered all of his talents and promise and currently battling a severe case of Social Anxiety Disorder, is now faced with communing with the very people who once adored him at his upcoming 10-year high school reunion. "Hey Diddle Diddle trailer

Watched Broken English this weekend.... It's about a woman in NYC dealing with the frustration of being in her 30s and still single and also hating her job. "...you have no sense of direction, and you're too shy!" I suppose she did seem kind of shy. She's not really confident and very awkward around people. Rather neurotic. There is also a point where she has a panic attack. This all made the movie more appealing to me, of course. Has some humorous parts but is also sad. Overall, I quite liked this movie. Except maybe the ending...

Living 'til the End
Well, the main character isn't necessarily shy....but he deals with a ton of anxiety that I would expect a lot of us would be able to relate to. He lets his fear take over his life.
I happened upon this movie by chance, and I'm glad I did.

I was watching a DVD of The Wedding Singer earlier; and somebody referred to Adam Sandler's character as shy--so I thought that was interesting.

Sheila McCarthy www.imdb.com/name/nm0565319/ is an actress that seems to play shy-awkward characters frequently. In the Victorian-era TV series "Emily of New Moon" and in the movie "Stepping Out" (starring Liza Minelli). Also in "Stepping out" the character Geoffrey was shy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGD-vSOic2I see if you can tell who Im talking about.
