I recently watched Bernie ,.. You wouldn't think Jack Black would be that great in a serious role, but you'd be wrong. I was pleasantly surprised by this one,.... BTW,... It is on Netflix,... in case anyone is wondering,.. Yeah I loved it. The acting was superb. He has more talent than he is given credit for.

Recently I watched The Hobbit which was about what you might expect, a pretty good film that was fun to watch. They added some stuff that wasn't in the original book, and it seemed like they made a few of the scenes more action packed than they were in the book, but I thought it was all done well. I'm looking forward to the next one.
The Hedgehog- A French film about an 11 year old girl who plans to commit suicide on her 12th birthday, and an apartment's concierge, a middle aged widow, who is more than she seems. I enjoyed this movie, it was beautiful in its own way.
Young Adult- Charlize Theron plays a failing writer and an alcoholic with trichotillomania (a compulsion to pull out strands of your own hair), she's supposed to be an unsympathetic character, but I couldn't help feeling for her. Overall, I liked this film.

Oz the Great and Powerful- Pretty awesome movie! Some of the 3d effects were annoying, but overall it was fun!

I watched a documentary called Fat Head which helped me understand insulin resistance better (probably because it was more easier to digest in an animation form), mind you it was only part of the movie, the rest talk about good FAT intake and how it will be better for the health.
I'll keep an open mind about it, it is good to get all different types of information so you have a broader perspective on it

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - A movie about seven cash-strapped Brits journey to a retirement resort in India. It was a heartbreaking and heartwarming movie about friendships and love for when we reach a certain point in our life. A film that i wouldn't mind rewatching over and over again
Evolution - A sci fi comedy about a meteorite crashing into Earth and the alien life-form rapid "evolution" to their new environment. Love it to bits, the humour might not appeal to all, it can be crude but still a gem nevertheless.

I haven't seen it yet, Scotty (shame on me, lool!). I've got to go see this, esp, since it has OS refs;). I did get out to see the one in 2009, I know that was a few years ago, but anyway.... I still haven't watched a lot of movies. The ones I've watched since the last time I was in here, were mostly the whole Puppet Master series (Charles Band creator). Watched the whole slew of them winter 2011, I just hadn't gotten out to see their latest one, another that goes back to the time of Hitler, etc. Blade (Dr. Hess), I'd listed him as my favourite Puppet of the bunch on another yt account I created back then, lol. The movie "Dolls" (made around 1987) was also created by Band. I had hoped they would produce a Dolls sequel, but no dice, I guess. An idea I'd had two years ago, was to make the dolls discover the secret of how the dollmaker (Guy Rolfe, actor, who, incidentallly (lol), played Toulon in the Puppet Master series, (except for PM 1 in 1989 whose actor was William Hickey) changed them from humans to dolls (as Gabriel had done with the character David, on the movie near its end), and then have that be the plot of a sequel, working toward the conclusion or something like that .

Finally watched the last Puppet Master movie: Puppet Master X: Axis Rising. Four new puppets are introduced (working for the Nazi side):
Weremacht, Blitzkrieg, Kamikaze, and Bombshell.
I watched most of it Friday, then I had something very important I had to do, so I went in last night, and watched the rest of it (not much left to watch of it).
The ending seemed happy, but it was "sort of" a cliffhanger in a small way (regarding the green "formula" - I won't say anything else so I don't spoil it, lol) So "maybe" Band might create a PuppetMasterXI (*rubs hands together in anticipation*)....?
Scotty, I haven't watched the new Trek yet. I was going to when I was at the mall a week or so ago, but it was getting down to the crunch time (near showing) and I just didn't want to get in the theatre that late; so I decided I would make a specific point of going just to watch it another evening. I'm looking forward to it, as I very much enjoyed Star Trek 2009 ;D.

Plus back in 2009 I think I was still slightly annoyed at a Star Trek reboot ,lol. I come to accept it now.

Man of Steel.
My God, what a great movie. It's just stunning. I can't put it into words how blown my mind was. The choreography, the music, the acting, the direction, the writing, it all came together and just worked so well. Memorable. What a Superman movie should be: loyal to the comics. If you forget everything you know about the franchise, you'll love it. It's a very different take on an old story. It was just magnificent. I'd never thought I'd say this, but I think it's better than the original.
You could argue it lacks substance, the quieter moments aren't that deep really, but I think it's a journey that you shouldn't take too seriously. Just enjoy it.
Henry Cavill was fantastic. I know Reeve is an icon of the role, but Cavill, is so close. If there's a few more with him, I'd probably rate him higher, purely because he's more my interpretation of Superman than Reeve was.
It's brilliant having a Brit in the role. Great week for us. First The Daily Show and now this.
Ten out of ten. Just... wow. For me, brilliant piece of cinema, certainly the best superhero movie I've ever seen.

Before Sunrise was on telly yesterday, I recorded it, will view it properly sometime. This is a 1995 film about two Americans who meet up while travelling in Europe, and wander round Vienna. My general impression though was that it looked a bit shallow, the scenery perhaps more important than the story.
Archipelago is a more obscure 2010 British film about warring family members, that I saw a while ago. This is a drama with a very odd style really, think it was maybe a bit pretentious, either that or good in a subtle way.
