Hey all My name is Dan. I'm 23, reside in Florida but am a Yorkshireman at heart, having been brought up and raised in "God's country", in t' north of England. I used to work at the Epcot center and now run a business with my family. I'm your typical humble nice guy who is softly spoken and shy, and has suffered with social anxiety in the past. I like movies, football and reading. I am happy to meet you all and hope I can make a positive contribution on this community.
Dan

How do Dan. Welcome to the forum. I'm guessing you're a Leeds fan by the nickname? Anyway, good to see another northerner on the boards!

Hi Dan and welcome to SU! Question about your accent. Do you think it helps or hurts your social contact here in the states?

Hi Dan and welcome to SU! Question about your accent. Do you think it helps or hurts your social contact here in the states? Hey! My accent is very strong, and most people I speak to can't understand me. Some find it funny, but others (like this girl who hung up the phone on me) don't and perhaps that's why some people tend to stay away. I don't think they're used to a Yorkie accent - after all, not many people get much coverage of Yorkshire, or the north for that matter out here...

I moved here last march, to work at Epcot for a year then went straight into working for my parents! It took me a while to acclimatise and I will always be fond of home, but yeah, it's nice! Where are you from in Scotland? Dan

Where are you from in Scotland? Dan I'm from Aberdeenshire, living about 30 miles from Aberdeen itself. I'm not all that keen on Florida. Way too hot for me still. And hurricanes are starting to get annoying, lol. I plan to move to a northern state sometime in the future. And i still kinda miss the UK also.
