yeah, and maybe they have their own alien bible too! i once read a theory that god and jesus were actually aliens bringing enlightenment to humankind. ;D In the Superman comic books, Superman was a Christ figure. A boy comes from the heavens to live with Jonathan and Martha (Joseph and Mary) Kent. And so on. The Smallville series plays up this angle. The movies so far have not, but the preview of Superman Returns had some lines suggesting that it would make use of the theme. On the larger subject, I bet that aliens exist, but they are too far away for a face-to-face (or face-to-whatever) encounter. Even if SETI picks up transmissions from an alien civilization, the signal will be dozens if not hundreds of years old.

Why does everyone always assume that aliens are going to be more intelligent than us? It is possible that we are the most intelligent species, I know that may not be a welcomed thought to some of you, but I believe it shows just how much people really do hate their own kind. Nietzsche really did know the human race. I think it's just an unwritten assumption that the question was referring to a load of bug eyed, butt fanatics due to the fact of so many abduction claims etc. Rather than some microbe on Alpha Gamma McPlanetus. It is just a misunderstanding of the word alien probably. Personally I think it is highly probably that other life forms exist in some form or another but I don't believe we have been visited. The universe revolves around interaction and attraction. From gravity to chemical reactions. Which means as long as there is enough matter, greater complexity is inevitable. People say, "wow but look at Earth, look at it being just right for life to prosper, surely this can't be coincidence!!'' but they obviously haven't looked up at night. One thing that makes me wonder is why so many of those that are so opposed to alien lifeforms are religious. God forbid Daddy has other kids eh?

I think I wish I really was an alien, just waiting to be taken back "home," to a place where I'd (hopefully) fit right in, for once. It sure would make a hell of a lot more sense in explaining me. (I can apparently find an opportunity for self-loathing/pity anywhere. ) -------- Who knows if they exist, though. I don't really ever give this much thought. Because thinking of anything beyond this Earth is mind-blowing enough to make my mind explode from the wonder of "HOW is all of this possible in the first place?!?"

The Vatican has recently taken a pro-life stance on the possibility of extraterrestrial beings. They actually sponsored an astrobiological conference to discuss religious implications of intelligent life on other planets and whether they have their own version of Jesus Christ or they will need to be converted. Really, it all makes sense to me. All of the aliens I've ever seen were Catholic.

Unless the aliens live underground?

My opinion in general: Everything is possible, how much is another question. I think aliens maybe exist. The chance for life on earth being the only life in the whole universe is very small. The chance for us being the only life in all dimensions is even more smaller. We life in a 4d world, 3rd d being the space and 4th d being the time of our universe. Of course seeing that every dimension is a combination of unlimited dimensions of the previous grade. Which means that time is an unlimited number of timeless space (moments), with the 5th dimension being an infinite number of times ( possible different flows of time) and 6th dimension maybe even being different universes with different time flows... Of course under the thinking, that science is right, which is of course to be doubted. Science is human-created and therefore imperfect as well. But back to topic, in my opinion, other life is the universe is possible and I think the chances are very well (life even is said to got from space to earth). Maybe there are even higher developed beings than humans. Maybe even more than just one other race... maybe humans or they will even die out before we can meet. However, the chances that they look like in our imagination is nearly impossible in my opinion. =) , if science is right,
