How to improve your social skills: www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-ozx7zUFB8gotta love some of the comments "I have never had a problem with BSing with total strangers, it is a common skill in rural communities. I learned it from my dad I guess. The trick is to not be worried about whatever the hell the other person thinks about you. It requires some confidence, but it is great striking up conversations with total strangers. You may even hear a story you have never heard before."

Ha... as someone that lives in a rural community, I can say that that's so true. People start conversations with you the whole time (because somehow they know X, who happens to know Y - who happens to know you). In the fields by my house as I was walking my dog, some woman started a random conversation with me and we were talking (ok... she was talking, and I was agreeing in the right places) for about 10 minutes. We got on to the subject of village life, and she said to me " Ah, after a while ya get used to it..... though i'm guessing YOU never will"... it was only meant as a bit of a joke, but it just goes to show how a "shy" person can stand out in a rural community.

I thought I'd add this one here. It's not perhaps what might normally be considered an "inspirational" video (if I understand the sense of the category), but I hope anyone reading/checking out the link enjoys it anyway. I put it on here because I've been listening to his songs today (at home while cooking/doing housework); and I find the words of it "inspirational", like a pep talk, etc.
Okay here it is (off of the old standby youtube, of course):
It's called: "Never Surrender" - Corey Hart
(for those interested in discography facts, it's off his band's 1985 album "Boy in the Box")

My problem (a u) is not conversing with strangers, because I don't know them well enough to worry about what they think of me (usually, anyway); unfortunately, it's when strangers become not strangers anymore that I find myself worrying what "they might think of me". Anyway, I know that's ::)old story, but I just had to comment.

sorry Nap, I haven't been on here (this thread) for awhile. I'm listening to it now as I write this response to you. Yes, I was at home when this episode of Oprah was on and yes, I was intrigued by this man's both physical (saw him do the physical stuff on there to demonstrate his strength, though having pancreatic cancer at the time); and non-physical (emotional; strength of spirit, etc.) strength. Great inspiration, definitely for everyone ;D! I like the part (listening now but it's playing faster than I type, obviously - don't mind me, I'm so ::)literal!!!) where he says "the brick walls are to give us a way to show how much we want it!" - Nice ;D!!!

Brook Benton - Still Waters Run Deep Lyrics: As we walk along and I hold her hand I may never even speak But my love is strong and she understands Still waters run deep, still waters run deep Like the mountain tall reaching for the sky My love reaches silently And my eyes disclose what my darling knows Aww, still waters run deep, still waters run deep She don't need to hear all those pretty words repeated endlessly In her heart she knows I would die for her if it had to be So we walk along and I hold her hand Though we hardly even speak I'm a lucky man 'cause she understands Still waters run deep, still waters run deep She don't need to hear all those pretty words repeated endlessly In her heart she knows I'll die for her if it had to be So we walk along and I hold her hand Though we hardly even speak I'm a lucky man 'cause she understands And still waters run deep, still waters run deep One of the comments below the video: "I remember my husband singing this to me years ago. It explained so much about him. He was a quiet type and I loved him so much but I wanted him to talk more. This song saved our relationship."
