Obviously, alcohol temporarily frees you of your inhibitions. But, I experienced something a little different the next morning. Yes, I had a big headache, but that's besides the point.
I woke up, several hours before I usually do, energized, less anxious. And, I noticed my normally bloodshot eyes were clear. I had also slept more sound. What I think this means is that anxiety can be so draining, you actually feel worse the next day than you would drinking. This was a bit of a strange occurance, but I dunno, it was interesting.

The effect alcohol has on you all depends on the amount you drink. You're right though - most people when they drink alcohol are made to feel less anxious, less inhibited and generally more mellow (*mellow, at a low dose). I'm surprised that you felt energized at any amount though... but more surprised that you found your eyes were clearer... People tend to under-estimate how long alcohol stays in the body for.. so when you woke up you were probably still being effected by it.

Well yeah, the effect increases with the amount is sort of obvious. Anyway, I will admit that I did have a little headache, but I felt physically BETTER than before I started drinking. The only explanation would be that since alcohol is a depressant, I slept more soundly? It was strange.

Because alcohol increases sedative effect of stuff you're already on. Also, how long did you sleep for? Usually with alcohol you wake up after several hours because it effects your ability to get a "proper sleep" (that period of REM that you need).

Alcohol enhances the mood you are already feeling, so it does not neccesarily help. For me, whenever I used to drink hard, I was sad and depressed. And it only numbed up my sad feelings for a while. But I couldn't feel anything else.

Alchohol can take away your anxiety because you just don't care, however, it also does other things too. From what I've heard....an underager here as I'm 18 and can't drink until I'm 19 in Canada...is that the day after a person who has anxiety will feel really good because the night before he or she was able to be a different person and was able to be more open. It's just because of the sucess you had the night before I'd guess. The less bloodshot eyes? Now, that's odd. Alchohol drains your body of proper fluids so it shouldn't do that. Maybe your bloodshot eyes are a nervious thing? When I'm nervious my eyes get sore and feel really red.
