Awesome Knox! I also play guitar and think its cool you got up the courage to have a jam session. You should start a band, that will really take you out of your comfort zone.

Good going Knox. That's a really cool thing to do. And could be the start of something great - a band!

A hearty ;D congrats to you, Knox. Sorry for my confusion, but for reasons I don't know (probably my muddled brain), I thought you were already in a band. Maybe you and this other guitarist could start up a band together, and see if you can recruit some other members, well you know all that, etc. and take it from there. Yeah, it's fun jammin' with someone else. I jammed twice at 2 different times; one with a piano player named Rob - we worked on some of my songs; and at another time with another fellow who played guitar, but he used my keyboard instead, because I felt (and still feel) more comfortable on the guitar - same deal, we worked on some of my stuff at the time (this was 1996). Right now I'm not doing much. Sorry I'll shut up now, Knox, this is YOUR thread (I didn't mean to monopolize it - just "forgot myself" ::)silly me, sorry)

lol, my keyboard's collecting dust right now. I've commited so much time and thought to getting better at human relationships, i've left it so lonely (thing is i've never finished learning it). i'll get back at it eventually. maybe we can share samples and ideas some day.

I love the guitar, I too play guitar. Yesterday, as i tried to show some of my new riffs to my buddies, i got very nervous. My hands began to shake! Specially my left hand. I felt extremely embarrassed. But then i told them that i was trying to master the vibrato.

Hey, I've been in a band for a while, I'm kinda the creative leader I guess you could say, which means the practices aren't spontaneous at all, since I'm not as a person. We never "jam", we just learn the songs I write, which is cool, it works.
But recently I was at Barnes and Noble, and I saw a guy wearing a band shirt that I like, and after a minute of discussing the band he was like "so you want to trade shirts..?" Haha talk about spontaneous, anyway we did because his shirt was way cooler than mine, and eventualy we were talking about our bands we're in and came to the conclusion that we're going to have to jam sometime. So tomorrow I'm going to have my first "jam session". I'm pretty confident in my skills, but it's just going to be kinda different improvising with poeple I don't know, when I'm used to a planned practice with close friends. It should be good though.

I Jammed with the guy, it ended up just being me and him, it was a pretty lame jam session, he wasn't very good at his instrument and had to pause a little to get the next chord...
