i just moved to oklahoma from ny i'm here to finish my ph. d. in soc psych that i started in new york; however, i grew up in florida for my first 24-ish years. my father just passed away and i'm kind of stuggling with loneliness issues here. i would just like to start talking to some people again. i mean, i can easily talk to work colleagues, but i don't really like talking much to people who do the same thing as me. its been so long since i've met anyone new, it's just be nice to talk to anyone again.

Hi there. Welcome to SU. I, too, am sorry to hear about your father. I'm glad that you've reached out to us. Pull up a chair and spark up some conversation with us. It's neat to hear that you're doing a Ph. D in social psych. I have up to 4th year psychology and two of criminology. Learning what makes people tick is pretty interesting. Have you ever heard the opinion that some academic psychology often focuses more on numbers as it is trying to prove itself as a legitimate "science"? I know some parts do need to include this, but not all was lost as far as I was concerned. I was also pleasantly surprised that there seemed to be much insight into the human mind and what makes it tick in criminology. It's all interesting though, no? Anyway, see you around the forums
