I'm thinking seriously about taking it for my anxiety. My mom encouraged me to get out and jog or excercise, get some sunshine, eat right, etc. and that should help with my anxiety, and I'm sure it would to a degree, but there are certain situations that I'm sure wont make much of a difference, like dating, the two or three days before a date, I get extreme anxiety, so much to where I just feel kinda sick to my stomach, and I just want to cancel the date. There are other situations as well. And I just want to try to take meds just to see if it works for me.. Anyone have anything to say about it? Sideffects? Success/failure stories? Help me out if you know anything. I'm going to do more research before I go for it, of course.

I took effexcor for about a year or so. I don't think it helped me much, actually. It did calm me down a bit, yes, but it also made me sleepy as well. And it nearly killed all my sexual desires too. It may work on you. It's supposed to be quite strong, though.

Hmm...I could use sleep...only things thing I ever took was Prozac and that gives you insomnia, somnolence, pretty much kills your emotions over time, and I felt like I had this white blanket over my thoughts.

I wouldn't want an expressionless face. you felt like if you had a 'white blanket' over your tougths? Isn't that a good thing? Isn't it like meditatiing and clearing your mind? crimeclub, are you ever tense as well? does it work for that?

no it's cool. I have been at ease about things lately. Things that normally give me anxiety or stress me out have come and gone with reletive ease. A couple examples.. I've been auditioning drummers and singers alot lately and normally I start feeling a ton of anxiety a few hours befor they show up and then I just feel awkward the whole time they're auditioning, but today I had a guy come over and I felt great the whole time. Also, anxiety starts to build up while I'm debating on weather to talk to a girl or not when I'm out in public, so much that It normally prevents anything from happening, but today I could tell a major positive difference while I was out and about.

Just noticed the typo in my post...oh well...and no, somnolence doesn't kill emotion over time, the pill itself does. What I meant by white thought blanket was that it was making it difficult to think normally.

So far so good, I've been taking them for about 6 days and I can tell a difference, and the side effects aren't that big of a deal, loss of appetite, and weaker sex drive (it's doing a number on my very active sex life. ) So far I recommend it! So, you don't mind it affecting your sex life? I'd wager most guys would.

I was sarcastic about the sex life, it's non existent. I choose to abstain till marriage (yeah I'm one of those religious people) so it's not that big of a deal to me. well done buddy

Well, I just wanted to let you guys know that so far effexor is very effective, the absence of anxiety has really been a load off my back. I feel great when I go out and do stuff without having that anxious irritation in my stomach. Talking to people has been a breeze, and fun. I just don't feel so self conscious. I've only been taking it a week but so far it's great, I'd really recommend it if you want a break from your anxiety and actually enjoy things you normally don't.

I'm guessing wyeth makes effexor? No skin off my back if no one else tries it, I just know the pain of our mutual problem and I finally found something that seems to be a solution, at least for me, and I just want to see if it helps anyone else out.
