It's supposed to help me with my social anxiety. I found a pretty informative website about the herb and read that it can take a few weeks to notice any changes. So far I've been taking it for three days. Your not supposed to mix it with any medication, not even birth control. I'll let you know how it works, if at all. The people on the website that I found seem to be gung-ho about this stuff.

Does that mean you're NEVER supposed to take birth control while taking St. John's Wort? Seems like a big sacrifice to shoot up the odds of pregnancy to get a slight decrease in anxiety/depression

Most medications of this nature take a few weeks to kick in. If all goes well with you I might try it as well. That means I'd have to come of birth control pills as well. Only joking.

That means I'd have to come of birth control pills as well. Only joking. That was funny, Shane! I went to the zoo today with my in-laws, which was why I had bought the SJW in the first place. I was pretty happy with how I had dealt with them. I had a good time and not once did I worry about what they thought of me. I also have this habit of remembering embarrassing moments of mine from the past and cringing with embarassment all over again. Well, I have done this a few times in the past 6 days that I have been on SJW and really didn't care at all about how I must have looked whenever the scienario too place. Part of this I still think may be a "placebo effect", You know? I convinced myself to think that I was no longer to be a social phobic because I had taken SJW for a few days. either way, I'm happy. I just hope that it lasts.

Happy to hear that you had a good day at the zoo with the family. I dont think that it was because of the st johns wort yet...it really needs at least 2 weeks to get to a blood level that it can work. Maybe taking the medication makes you feel a little more relaxed at itself, but i think you have a better mind set concerning your family, which is wonderfull. Note that you shouldnt take st johns wort with other anti depressants and be carefull with ANY other medication you take! Ask if necessary your doctor or pharmacist. (i sound a bit like a commercial)

I took SJW for awhile myself. I have a social phobic condition named avoidant paruresis where I have trouble going in a public restroom. I hope that doesn't freak anyone out but after I took the herb for awhile it didn't help me with my problem. I think the only way to combat my condition and shyness is to get into situations where you're faced with the fear and take it on. Easier said than done right! I'm still trying.....but sites like this help to vent our frustrations and struggles. I've also heard that taking B-12 vitamin help you to be able to be more relaxed in fearful situations.

I know what you mean NewOrleans about needing something to help you cope with your inlaws. I think I would need something a bit stronger for my ex-inlaws. I can't wait for that Cannabis throat spray thing to come out.
Anxiety flooding works for me some times but not always.

I read this odd article in some rubbish magazine once which claimed you could determine someone's personality from the toilet cubicle they choose.
Apparently the further from the main door it is, the more shy and messed up you are, and vice versa etc.. Umm..wise words indeed. Possibly vaguely true though.
Very strange...
Crazy talk.

I grab the first one that doesn't look nasty.

It's hard to keep up with all those reports. Half the time they end up contradicting themselves.
