Hi loneangel,
I use to be that way lol you'll grow out of it and when I say grow I don't mean magically you will wake up one day and tada you will no longer be to shy to order your food. You will get a job (life will happen) and you will have to talk a little more and ordering your food and speaking for yourself will no longer seem so horrific. Enjoy who you are and where you are angel this to shall pass.

So I've been wanting to go to the movies (alone since I dont have friends) but I'm too shy to ask for tickets and food. I'm afraid I'll stumble on my words and embarrass myself:( I also have to make my mom pay for stuff in stores so I dont have to talk. Is anyone else like that? How old are you loneangel? As I am also quite shy and loner myself, I enjoy watching movies--alone. And I am not shy or embarrassed since I know there will other people who will do the same, and asking tickets or paying in stores are necessities in life. So, will simply let your shyness make you go hungry or not enjoy the stuff you want to do, for the simple reason that you are shy? Come on! Realize that the world is not always about you, and so if you stumble on your words, so what? At least you are enjoying your food or your movie.

Yes I'm like that. One day we'll be able to do it alone, cause after all our mother's won't be with us forever. BUT sometimes I am able to do it myself, like if I am out with someone who has no idea I have social anxiety. I usually just rush through it so I won't have to worry about it. I love the way my aunt told me she did things with her son. She told him "If you don't go get it, you wont be able to have it." Hah! My family used to do so many things for me so I never learned a lot of things that I feel I should know at my age. When I do manage to do things like that myself I just busy myself with something else while they are getting the food or something. Like listening to my IPod, rearranging my purse ...something so thought I can try to not focus on feel awkward. But it's spooky isn'y it LOL. I think it boils down to us feel insecure.

Ordering food is one of those things that takes practice. The more you do it the easier it will be. In the meantime, if possible try to sit close to where the wait staff will be. Like at the end of the table or the outside of the booth. This will help them hear you, and you can also point to the menu to help them understand. Also, you can try to plan and practice in your head what you are going to say before they come so you can feel a bit more ready. Good luck with future food ordering! You got this!
