Thanks Zoe. Feel free to ask me anything you like. Okie Dokie, you have just unleashed something that you may wish you hadn't *takes a deep breath and speaks* Is point 1 and 2 related? Why specifically Melbourne? Are you working casual/part time, is that why you want to work every day? What kind of fun stuff do you want to do? If you ever do move to Melbourne and you don't mind, I would love to come down and visit *Inhales another deep breath and jazz hands* You are a very engaging person. Have you thought about being a journalist? 1 and 2 aren't related. There are more jobs in Melbourne and Perth is pretty boring I want to work every day because I have anxiety disorder and take off work a lot. I work as a consultant so I get away with it. Not sure what kind of fun stuff. Just anything different. Hobbies, food, traveling, etc. Of course you can come for a visit. I have met a couple people from this forum before in person

1. Eat healthier. 2. Exercise more. 3. Get a better job. 4. Finish my AA degree. 5. Apply for Citizenship. 6. Meet an awesome online friend. 7. Write in my blog more. 8. Try to socialize more on and offline. 9. Pay off some debt. 10. Continue being Awesome! Hi Scotty...*waves* what an interesting list! I didn't realise you are not yet a citizen of America......hope it isn't too hard to apply and get in. What is AA? I didn't realise you have a blog, is it a private or public one? Good luck with meeting your awesome online friend.....*photos please, or it did not happen* (I'm kidding) Good luck with 1,2,3 and 9 as for number 10....well...'nuff said. *hugs then bounces off* Yeah, I've been procrastinating on become a US citizen, I figure it'll be better than renewing my greencard. AA is Associates in Arts...basically it's a two year degree that covers the general education requirements, in theory after that I will go to a University and spend a couple of years getting a bachelors degree. My blog is public...I plan to post it on SU once I'm a bit better at updating it on a regular basis. Thanks, I'll certainly be taking pics... whether she likes it or not. ;D

This is a good idea Zoe, it'll be interesting to see how well we can keep up with them. 1. Get a full time job 2. Don't fall behind with the courses I'm doing 3. Exercise more regularly 4. Eat healthily 5. Learn to play the guitar 6. Socialise more 7. Pay off my debt 8. Spend less time procrastinating on the internet and more time reading books and doing some of the other things on the list I don't think 4 will start until all the food from Christmas has been eaten. I'm currently doing ok with 8 and 3 though Are you looking for a job in the same area Scotty or something completely different? Good luck with your degree.

Are you looking for a job in the same area Scotty or something completely different? Good luck with your degree. Ideally something that was different and paid more, but with the cutting of hours and other BS that is going on at my job, I may have to settle for something else in retail. Also thanks! Good luck with your list.

I have met a couple people from this forum before in person Thanks missklew, but I'm too shy to be a journalist....just qualified enough to be a busybody ;D I hope you will gradually overcome the anxiety disorder and lead a more fulfilling life. I have been in a similar situation before, and even though it took me years to slowly overcome it, it is possible. Don't lose hope! Food and travelling sounds good....maybe you can take some classes in internationally cooking ....then you can hit two birds with one stone (not that I'm advocating violence against animals). What are you most anxious about? As for the visit.....that's a promise, when you moved to Melbourne, I'll find time to visit! It is so wonderful to hear about the friendships made here on SU, do you still keep in touch with the people you met from the forum? I hope you have a fantastic week ahead, take care and hugs from Zoe ;D

I plan losing weight and finding a gf, hopefully soon. What a wonderful goal, all the best!! To be honest, I'm struggling with documenting on my food diary, what methods are you using to lose weight? I tried to be more active but I'm having trouble saying no when people at work offer me food..... Sorry to be straight foward and i hope this does not come across as rude (rather its my lack of social skills, i think). Personally what type of person are you looking for as a girlfriend? In general do shy guys go for the more bubbly talkative girl that have things in common with or the shy friendly girl they have in common with? For some odd reason the question just pass through my head....feel free not to answer if it is too personal. I hope you have a fantastic week, take care *Hugs* Zoe

What do you plan to do for your Bachelor's degree? What do people (well specifically yourself) write in the blogs.....I think if i had to start one, i would get a writers block straight away. I'm so excited about the get together.....probably more so than the people involved..... * I'm just excitable* All the best and i hope you have an enjoyable week, take care * hugs* Zoe

I love your list....it has a good balance between work, social and personal needs. What type of job do you want to work for on a full time basis? Do you like the courses you are studying? What are the courses about? Good on you for taking charge of your health...takes a lot of willpower! Ooooo will you serenade us with a song once you master the guitar......please? pretty please??? I like your motivation, spurs me on to keep on track with my list. I hope you have an enjoyable week, take care and *hugs* from Zoe

Hi Marle, how are you? I love your list as most of them are quite specific and attainable. How are you progressing with each one? If you don't mind me asking....what will you be swapping pasta with for lunch/dinner? How are you going with the book? Is Melatonin a pill? I hope you have a great week and thanks for participating in the post! Hi Zoe- I'm doing OK at the moment. I stopped the pasta thing yesterday- swapping it for meat, yogurt and vegetable (chicken, mushroom, tomato, garlic this time) wrapped in grape leaves (how Mediterranean). I'm trying to avoid the temptation to swap it for another easy carb/starchy dish like potato or popcorn. So far I'm liking the change. I'm only a few chapters into the book, so I've got a ways to go- this is one of those books where you only understand 70% of what you're reading, but it's a profound topic that makes you think. Melatonin is a hormone that the body naturally produces, and it's also available in pill form as a supplement. It regulates your body's biological clock- the supplement is supposed to make you sleepy if your body doesn't produce enough of the hormone it naturally. Still working on the sleeping earlier thing, I hope to make some progress soon. I plan to start saving more in the next month. As far as the job, I informed my supervisor recently that I'm interested in getting into other things at my job (of course I was more specific) so I'm about to see what comes of that. Hi Marle *waves* thanks for responding to my questions, how are you going with your healthy eating? I didn't realise grape leaves are big enough to wrap with, or the fact that they can be eaten! I guess you learn something new every day! I'm glad you enjoy reading the "Phenomenon of Man", how did you come across this book? Thanks for filling me in on what Melatonin is. I love how proactive you are with your list and also careerwise. Hopefully when my time comes, I will be able to pull out the courage like how you have with your boss. I hope you have wonderful week, take care *hugs* Zoe

8. Keep those pesky kids out of my amusement arcade What is an amusement arcade? Is it like those moving clown heads and funny mirror stuff? He can try hiring an evil clown to keep them out, though I wouldn't recommend it. just thinking about it makes my skin crawl *shivers* pulls a Scooby Doo "yuck" face

Hi Geek guy *waves* how's the new year? I hope you don't mind if i ask some questions about your list? Feel free not to answer them. How did you get into boxing? Is it a dangerous sport? how has seeing the psychologist helped you so far? Good luck with your studies or job hunting, so does that mean you are staying back and not moving to Melbourne? What is on the top of your list for things to read? I think it is really smart how you are handling your finances right now, like you already set out the structure to make sure it works. Sleeping patterns can get habitual.....hopefully you will be able to re-adjust it. I will have to push mine further back from midnight to 10pm.... that should be fun! Take care! Hope you have a great week Hi Zoe, I have the answers that you seek (also my new year has been very sedated, came down with a flu but I'm 90% better now). With the boxing thing, it's actually not "proper" boxing, as instead of being all about the boxing that we see on TV, 2 combatants punching each other lights out, it's just a fitness circuit with lots of boxing elements in it. When you arrive, you pick a workout station, each station has 2 different exercises/activities on it, and once the trainer starts the music, you start what your station tells you to do. When the music changes, you move to the next one until almost 1 hour has passed. The stations include many different boxing bags, a session in the ring hitting the mits of the trainer, arm exercises, running, cycling, speedballs, stair running etc. So there's actually no danger in it for me, since I'm not interested in boxing as a sport goes (though I would love to find a martial art that interests me nearby). The psychologist is mainly helpful for keeping me grounded and realistic with my perspective on things. I can tend to sort of go from one bad thought to the next without realising that all I'm doing is making up what MAY happen and running with it, when in all reality, those bad things that may happen rarely do happen, or are really not as bad as they seem (this is especially true for social things, where often-times the idea of doing something social for someone who is shy, is scary but once they do it it's not so bad). She's a lovely lady too who is nice to talk to, quite compassionate. I'd love to move to Melbourne still but I'm not sure if I'd want to live with my brother, as I caught a bigger glimpse of how he lives at the moment and he's a bit of a stingy bastard lol. Very tight-assed about a lot of things that being uptight about is just a waste. However if I could get my own cheap place I'd love it as Melbourne is SO GOOD! For books, I have a few I can't remember the names of I borrowed from the library and are probably overdue by now... But as far as ones I have in my own collection, I just purchased Emergency by Neil Strauss which is very interesting, and I purchased The Way of Kings ages ago and never got around to reading it so it would be nice to finally do that (the book is enormous, not that it deters me). I also still need to read the Golden Compass series which I purchased even longer ago. Hehe, for the finances, I picked up a lot of the ideas in it from my parents and the book Barefoot Investor (which has a website if you google it). Some of the information in it is geared towards Australia as it is by an Australian (I know you're in aus but just for other peoples reference), but the general ideas are all very good and I'm going to follow them and invest once I get enough savings built up. Doesn't need to be much, initial investment into managed funds is only $1000. I both love and hate staying up late, because it feels like my own time of night that belongs to me, yet I miss the day or end up very tired if I have to get up early. In the end, I will dial back my sleeping time, its just a case of how long it will take me lol. is this primal fuel available anywhere in perth? Sadly whenever I ask health stores and other places about it, they have never heard of it, and google isn't giving me much hope either, so I'll have to order it online methinks. Did I get you interested in it too? If you have any other questions, don't be afraid to ask. I'm generally lazy about replying so it'll just take me a bit before I post back. Hiya GeekGuy.....I'm not sure if anyone has said this to you before but you sound like the talking sock from those #1234 ads ....you know .... the one where he is in the laundromat and pops out and says "the answers you seek is #1234"....have you seen that ad or is it only a "Sydney" thing? So sorry to hear that you were unwell during the new year....i hope you are 100% better now. The boxing circuit sounds like hard work but a lot of fun, you must be like an Adonis now ;D Do you have any idea what type of martial arts you want to do and what is available in your area? I'm searching for a psychologist in the area i work, i found one and now need to organise a referral letter so i can book myself in to see her. Kinda nervous..... I can relate to (as do most of the people on SU) on the snowballing effect of our worrying thoughts. It is quite crippling....sometimes i get into such a state that i blank out which is kinda embarassing! Good luck with your plans to move to Melbourne (some day), like I said to missklew..... if you guys move over to this side of the country, I'll definately make time to pop down! Is it handy working in a library as you can have access to all the books you want? I think i overheard that you have completed a course from TAFE relating to finances? Is that right? I'm starting my course (via long distance) through OTEN for Accounts Administration Cert 3. I spent the whole day reading one chapter and doing the practical exercise.....it can be really full on aye? Any advice? I've bookmarked the Barefoot Investors website...some really good information there, thanks for the heads up. Hope this will make a difference with one of the goals on my list. I'm an night owl for the same reason although i need to wake up early due to work reasons......not that I'm alert at work....very zombie like until around 11am-12 noon...not such a great thing when you are working frontline in an office. I shouldn't complain since you have to work back to back from library to the bar.......that's insane, even if you are still young..... I hope you will find a job that pays you well and doesn't require you to work so many hours so you can focus on rebuilding your health. I will you well with your goals and i hope you have an enjoyable week, take care and *hugs* Zoe
