Here's my to do list for 2012, it's rather short but everything should be attainable in a reasonable amount of time : 1) Be more positive/optimistic about life in general ( I've already started this but I want to improve on it as much as possible ). 2) Try to not be so hard on myself all the time ( like the previous one, could use some improvement ). 3) Find the courage to buy a microphone for my computer in order to make someone listen to me singing ( Now that's going to be a hard one ). 4) Try and find some time to play all the games I've bought during the Steam sale ( Doable but will take quite some time I think ). Hi Grayback, thanks for posting, how are you going with your goals? I think for point 3 you shall have no problems with finding an audience within the SU crowd. I noticed we have a few game players on this forum, what games do you like playing and what did you buy from the Steam sale? I like points 1 and 2, may i borrow them once i completed my list??? I hope you have a fantastic week, take care and *hugs* Zoe

Hi Slinky, how are you? I like your list.....the fact that you are training to complete a marathon sort of indicates that you are determined when you want to be. What is an amusement arcade? Is it like those moving clown heads and funny mirror stuff? Why exactly do you own one? (sorry curiosity got the better of me) Good luck with the driving lessons! Hope you have a fantastic week, take care - Zoe Hello Zoe. I'm afraid the amusement arcade thing was my attempt at a joke! Old Scooby Doo cartoons where it always seemed there was an episode where an old dude who ran an amusement park was uncovered by the Scooby Gang as the evildoer up to no good. Hence my number 9 being stop telling crap jokes, and number 10 to stop thinking I'm clever by telling said jokes! Aww...my bad Slinky....It wasn't a crap joke, I think if i knew you better i would have gotten it as I love my Scooby Doo cartoons ( i own the movies, and a pup name Scooby doo series) And it would have been a clever quip as i would have enjoyed how you threw that in there..... love your sense of humour, *thumbs up mate*

Hi Marle *waves* thanks for responding to my questions, how are you going with your healthy eating? I didn't realise grape leaves are big enough to wrap with, or the fact that they can be eaten! I guess you learn something new every day! I'm glad you enjoy reading the "Phenomenon of Man", how did you come across this book? Thanks for filling me in on what Melatonin is. I love how proactive you are with your list and also careerwise. Hopefully when my time comes, I will be able to pull out the courage like how you have with your boss. I hope you have wonderful week, take care *hugs* Zoe Hi Zoe, Doing well with the healthy eating. I'm also having other meat/veggie dishes because I'm getting tired of wrapping everything in the grape leaves. Removing pasta is a fairly small thing so I'm sure I'll make it the 4 months. It's been almost 2 years since I've been eating nearly all natural food (no artificial ingredients). I've lost 30+ pounds doing that and I've found it easy to stick with (probably because I still eat fatty foods - fat is natural). It's just normal to me now, not a "diet." It would be nice to go a bit further and get rid of my daily pasta habit. I found out about The Phenomenon of Man from an article I read in a New Age-y magazine called Super Consciousness. I don't normally read that magazine but was a bit intrigued by the cover story, "Are We All Connected?" In it they mentioned Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, the author of the book. It said he compared the Virgin Mary to Mother Earth, that just as Jesus physically came Mary, humanity comes from Nature - and since the Catholic church reveres Mary for being the mother of Christ, it should recognize Nature and revere it as such. As a former Catholic, I found this reasoning intriguing and looked up Pierre Chardin, which is how I found out about the book. My boss has been telling me to communicate what I want to do / how I feel about the job. I have been really dragging my feet in bringing it up. I talked about what I wanted to do, and didn't mention how much I didn't care for what I'm doing currently. I thought if I went negative it would bring up my weaknesses, which I was too scared to do. Good luck with your boss, Zoe. I think you'll have the confidence when the time comes. You're not acing that course for nothing!

Hi Grayback, thanks for posting, how are you going with your goals? I think for point 3 you shall have no problems with finding an audience within the SU crowd. Hello Zoe, well, so far so good, except for number 3 but as I said this one will be the most difficult for me, overcoming my fear is no small task but I'll try as best I can. I noticed we have a few game players on this forum, what games do you like playing and what did you buy from the Steam sale? I think the list would be much shorter if I just said what games I don't play, which is not that much and include things like flight sims and sports games. And as for what I bought during the Steam sale : Batman : Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition, Company of Heroes and Company of Heroes : Opposing Fronts, Dark Messiah of Might&Magic, Deus Ex : Human Revolution, Orcs Must Die! and its two DLCs ( Lost Adventures & Artifacts of Power ), Rock of Ages, Sequence, Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds : Survivor and finally Tomb Raider : Anniversary. So basically, I got my gaming needs covered for quite a good amount of time ;D. I like points 1 and 2, may i borrow them once i completed my list??? Of course, feel free to do just that. I think that those two first resolutions are things that most shy people suffer from in varying degrees . That sounds awesome, can we make song requests??? (Am I allowed to ask you that question?) You are allowed to ask any questions you want Zoe though I can't guarantee that all of them will be answered . The fact is, I would first need to feel comfortable about singing something I know before even considering doing a song I don't know or might not like. I hope you have a fantastic week, take care and *hugs* Zoe Thanks, I wish you a great week as well Zoe.

1. Do some exercise! I've always been skinny naturally but I've never been healthy. I think the reason I weight as little as I do is because I have no muscle, which is a problem as I have no strength/stamina. The weight I have goes to my stomach and face. Unfortunately as I have a big head anyway, got a bit of a bit of a bobble headed thing going on. I think it would make a look older as well with a less chubby face. I would love a flat stomach and some cheekbones haha. I think my goals are tone up, gain muscle and become more flexible. I plan on doing lifts, sit ups, the kind of things I don't need to leave the house for :-) I am limited by space and lack of money so I'll improvise with household objects. Running and such is not possible as my left leg is messed up. I do plan on doing research into the best ways to do this. Around 10 years ago I started doing arm lifts (with a textbook!) and about 40 sit ups a day, it was great I was able to touch my toes for the first time. So if I had the motivation back then I can do it again now! 2. Become more active online. Because if I can't be confident on the internet. I have no hope doing it irl. 3. Job. But I don't really want to talk about that. 4. Start playing the keyboard again. Starting with relearning how to read music. 5. Add more things to this list. I've run out of steam right now.

Hello, thanks for joining in! I love your list....it has a good balance between work, social and personal needs. What type of job do you want to work for on a full time basis? Do you like the courses you are studying? What are the courses about? Good on you for taking charge of your health...takes a lot of willpower! Ooooo will you serenade us with a song once you master the guitar......please? pretty please??? I like your motivation, spurs me on to keep on track with my list. I hope you have an enjoyable week, take care and *hugs* from Zoe I'm looking for an office job, preferably one without telephones because I hate them. I was made redundant from my last office job. The reason I'm doing the courses is so hopefully I can do something else in the future like working with animals or working in the medical field. I'm studying for an A Level in English Language and in a couple of weeks I'm starting a degree in Natural Sciences. They're both distance learning courses so it's up to me to keep myself motivated which will be hard as the degree will take around 6 years to complete! I've almost completed an A level in English Literature which was enjoyable, I enjoyed studying the first world war literature. Well if I ever learn to play the guitar, maybe I will let you listen, maybe You have a good week too Zoe

Yeah, I've been procrastinating on become a US citizen, I figure it'll be better than renewing my greencard. AA is Associates in Arts...basically it's a two year degree that covers the general education requirements, in theory after that I will go to a University and spend a couple of years getting a bachelors degree. My blog is public...I plan to post it on SU once I'm a bit better at updating it on a regular basis. Thanks, I'll certainly be taking pics... whether she likes it or not. ;D *bounces back* Gday Scotty, thanks for answering the questions, how long do you have before you finish your AA? What do you plan to do for your Bachelor's degree? What do people (well specifically yourself) write in the blogs.....I think if i had to start one, i would get a writers block straight away. I'm so excited about the get together.....probably more so than the people involved..... * I'm just excitable* All the best and i hope you have an enjoyable week, take care * hugs* Zoe I'm not sure how long it'll take, mostly it depends on how many classes I take each semester. Potentially though I think I could finish in the Fall. And I have no idea what I want to do for a bachelors...leaning towards IT usually though. My blog is usally brief updates about my life, and then sometimes other random stuff...but as I said, I'm terrible at updating it,lol. I get lazy. Thanks, I'm pretty excited too. It'll be awhile though, so don't burn up on your excitment. I hope you are having a good week!

Can i ask your suggestions for lunch meals......i tried making salad with tuna, sandwich with tuna, salad with roast chicken without skin and then bought grilled fish with salad from our local hot food place (the last one was costly).....I'm trying to save money and not buy my lunch. Your synopsis of the article sounds quite intriguing. Did The Phenomenon Of Man further expand on the idea? It is great that you were so clear headed in the meeting with your boss.....i would have been so nervous and probably been all doom and gloom I'm not sure if I'm acing my course, but at least I'm understanding some of the stuff I'm reading so that is a good start How's the sleeping goal? Were you able to get more sleep in with the extra 30 minutes? Take care and I hope you have a great week ;D

Hope you are having an enjoyable time, especially playing with some of the games you got from the Stream Sale. What are your top 3 tips for fellow SU to counteract the thought of being hard on oneself and to be more optimistic about life in general? I realise we have some fellow SU members that are musically inclined, one trying to learn the guitar and another, the keyboard. Maybe we could start a band.....how cool would that be? Be seriously, it does require a lot of courage, kudos for giving it a go *two thumbs up* Take care and i hope you have a fantastic week

It is a sign of a determined person and usually they achieve their goals due to their positive attitude. What songs do you remember how to play on the keyboard? Playing a musical instrument is good for stress relief, did you know? Hope you don't mind the questions, please feel free not to answer them if you feel uncomfortable. Just wanted to cheer people on to achieving their goals. I hope you have a great week, take care

I definitely can relate to finding an office job that doesn't phone calls. Working as a receptionist/Admin Assistant, getting various type of phone calls (queries or complaints) can be very stressful. That is why I'm studying Accounts via Distance Learning so that I may be able to change to a background role in the company. You have a very caring personality.....it definitely reflects in your choice of studies.....taking care of animals or taking care of other people. That is a very beautiful quality. I'm interested to know what First World War literature is about? It is books written at the time or literature written reflecting the time in the First World War? Can you clarify what you learnt with the subject? How about when you have learnt the basics of guitar playing, we can v-chat and you can teach me how to play? We could make such lovely duets afterwards.... Take care, and i hope you have a wonderful week

IT is always a safe bet, so i have heard. Thanks for the link to your blog....by following yours, i realised i had one of my own that i have forgotten all about, so hopefully i would do something with it too... In no particular order:
1. Continue working on overcoming my agoraphobia; hopefully I'll be able to start getting out on my own more this year.
2. Continue trying to eat better.
3. Go to bed earlier/get up earlier.
4. Get back to using my wii fit (depending on what is actually wrong with my knee).
5. Maybe towards the end of the year I'll be in a position to look into doing some volunteer work or finding a job with the help of rethink.
6. Try to let people walk over me less.
7. Read more.
8. Finish unpacking from when I moved/sort out stuff once it's unpacked and sort out the stuff I've unpacked and shoved in cupboards lol.
9. Rely less on the internet.
10. Complete Skyrim ;D

Hi Zoe, my week wasn't too horrible. I just hope I can move onto other things at my work quickly enough- my supervisor, who doesn't see me much, has indicated that I can eventually move in that direction. I don't think I can be of much help when it comes to lunch ideas. I'm a freak because I eat the same thing for lunch at work every day- peanut butter and raw honey whole grain sandwich and a banana. I do it because it's easy and fairly healthy. I don't have to think about it. The fact that I eat lunch at my desk makes it less of an event for me so I don't need to eat something interesting. I have variety in my other meals though. As far as food and expenses go, I find liver to be an economical meat choice but most people don't like that (I kinda do). I didn't find where Chardin wrote about that idea- but this book seems tangentially related. From what I know about it, in it he argues that consciousness isn't a phenomenon unique to humans, but a property of the universe (just as all properties of nature appear everywhere else in nature in various degrees) that emerges from organized complexity. I'm not saying I agree with this- I should finish the book at least. Still haven't gotten around to sleeping earlier :/, I'll try doing that this week. I'm not sure if I'm acing my course, but at least I'm understanding some of the stuff I'm reading so that is a good start That's good- is this a new career path or similar to what you've been doing?
