I only discovered this site the other day, and I'm surprised and disappointed about the lack of activity in the forums. I love it. I'm addicted to reading through all the old threads haha. There are so many people like me - Loads of the messages could have been written by me. I'm not really helping that much though - My 'time on the forum to post ratio' Is pretty poor.
You'd think that the first shy forum to come on google would be heaving with activity, but then again I bet a lot of the people who look at the site are too shy to leave posts.

You're right about being too shy to post. I do try to leave the occasional post, but what I end up saying is almost always inadvertently stupid and I kill the thread Ooh look! I've made 302 posts! I'd like to thank Jesus...

^ And congrats to you for nearly 1,000 posts. I did get you a cake but I couldn't resist the temptation and I buried my head in it. What can I say? I'm Italian. We love food.
And slanty buildings ;D

Pisa
Anyway, I should contribute more but I generally just like lurking sites since I don't have any great contributions to make.

I visit this site on a daily basis but I only rarely post because I find myself unable to come up with something interesting enough to write about ( that's not to say that what I post is actually interesting, it's just that sometimes I force myself to try and participate ).

I don't think I've got anything interesting to write either. I think all my posts have just been about my self, and I know I'm not that interesting! haha. I think I've been posting a lot because the site is new to me, and I've got too much time on my hands.
I do feel a bit anxious about posting. The main thing though, is I feel anxious about coming back on the site, because I'm worried about how people will have responded to my posts.

I can relate to that though for me that happens mostly at the beginning when I'm getting to know the people that populate the forum .

I'm not really helping, I haven't posted for a a few months. I don't feel I have a lot interesting to say either.

The important thing is that you try to post. Say something, anything, even if you think it's completely pointless, useless, nonsensical or that nobody wants to hear it. Once you get into the habit, it becomes normal.
It doesnt matter if its not interesting. I never have anything interesting to say either.
That's why most of why I say is incomprehensible codswallop.

Agreed with Sexy Spork too. Getting over the fear of thinking 'What I say doesn't really contribute' or 'I don't having anything interesting to say' is half the battle. This forum has been brilliant for how welcoming and understanding people are to new folk, or anyone with anything to say.
I had the same issue with the chatroom too a long time ago, but I just dove in, listening to convos and got myself involved slowly but surely. Being a little bit bold helps sometimes as you never know where a conversation could go or how one of your posts could help someone else. Either to post themselves or just feel a little better about their situation or not so alone in how they feel.

Yeah Sexy Spork's advice sounds great. I'm going to try it and see how it goes . I've been one of those 250 guests although occasionally I log in but haven't posted a response, even when I'm tempted.

Good point and on that note it's been a long time since I heard codswallop.

All good points but also: I'm not saying cannibalism isn't good but you know how fussy some people can be..
