I developed a drug/alcohol problem because of my shyness has this happened to anyone in here?

Hmmm, I did kind of catch myself drinking more and more out of boredom. The boredom resulting from no social life etc which resulted from the shyness. I didn't develop an addiction but I sure felt it when I didn't have a drink the next day. I've had a few friends who were either smackheads or alcoholics so while it wasn't bad I consciously limit myself self now.
How about you? Do you still have a problem? What was your vice? Am I being nosey? Too many questions? lol sorry, just woke up.

No. I rarely drink and don't do drugs...well except for orange tic tacs. Most people who have drinking problems don't think they have a problem.

i don't do drugs & never have or will, i've seen friends go down that route & to be honest i don't like the outcome, i occiasionly have a few drinks mostly if the football/soccer is on or at weekends but i know my limit when to stop.

No drugs, no drink. No desire to have them either. Though I don't get that bored myself, so perhaps that's why I've never turned to drugs.

When I was a kid, I made a promise to myself that I was to never to drink alchoholic beverages, smoke,do drugs, or do anthing that is consider unhealthy to the human body. That may seem as unrealistic to some people but I'm 18 now and I haven't broken that promise yet.

I used to do a lot of drugs back in my high school days, drank my share too, but then cleaned myself up. These days. I don't drink often, but when I do, it seems my main purpose is to help me open up. It usually works great while I'm with people, but once the nights over and I head home alone, I usually get really, really depressed.
If anyone ever seen the show "Friends", they had an occasional character on there called "Fun Bobby" which I can definately relate to. The regulars on the show loved this guy because he was a lot of fun to be around, but then they met him sober for the first time, and he was soooo boring to be around they couldn't take it.

I probably drink more than is healthy...but I don't really see it as a "problem." It's not like I get drunk every day. But when I do get drunk, I tend to get VERY drunk ...I thought that was normal for college people, though.
Sometimes I get drunk 1-2 times a week (my record is 4 times but that only happened once)...other times I go 2+ weeks without any alcohol, other than maybe a hard lemonade after school once in a while. Hmm yeah I'm starting to realize that maybe I do sound a little messed up!

It's normal for college kids to break under the freedom away from their parents and that kind of thing. Lots of people i know do drugs regularly, and can't seem to stop. I did drink heavily for several months earlier this yea, but thankfully, i've stopped for a good while now, going on six weeks. I'm sure i'm not gonna be permanently drink free forever, but it's nice to know that i can do it.

Constant fear of addiction has always kept me out of trouble even though I dabble in the chemicals once and awhile. I have friends who are amazed at my ability to resist the temptation.
My weekspots are for alcohol and benzo's of course, because they help with my major character flaw. Even still, I don't drink regularly and I havent refilled my benzo script.

I have never done drugs and very rarely drink anything alcoholic, and I'm happy to let it stay that way.
I think it helps that I have grown up in an environment to avoid it. My parents rarely drink either, and I was never around people who where into drugs. When I was older some of my 'friends' tried to pressure me to drink heavily like they had started to, but I resisted the pressure they put on me.
