Like SS said, what part of Texas do you live in? A four hundred mile radius is perfectly okay for me to drive. Okay okay, farther is acceptable too.

When I first started school, I remember always being asked why I didn't look anything like my mom, because I just don't look very Vietnamese. So the kids would make comments about how I was adopted, etc...making me feel like I was different, an outcast. I had a few close friends in high school that were also half-Vietnamese. Except for having very dark hair, they didn't really look it either. So you're not unusual in that regard.

I've been shy for as long as I can remember. I figure it was due to the way I was brought up, and the community I was brought up in. My dad was quite a bit older when I was born, and my mother who was quite a bit older as well, was also Vietnamese. So I think I got a very old-fashioned, culturally 'different' kind of upbringing. My dad was quite harsh, almost as if he never wanted children, or never understood how to deal with them, so I was constantly criticized, put-down, yelled at, called stupid, etc.. My mom on the other hand, tried to be motherly, but didn't really know how to be. She had very high expectations, and when I didn't live up to them, she made it very clear that she was disappointed, and always tried to get me to do things her way, never letting me figure things out for myself. When I first started school, I remember always being asked why I didn't look anything like my mom, because I just don't look very Vietnamese. So the kids would make comments about how I was adopted, etc...making me feel like I was different, an outcast. Long story short, I developed very low self-esteem earlier on in my life that hasn't dissipated now that I am older, despite the fact that sometimes I do get compliments from other people. I just have it internally ingrained in my head that I'm worthless, nobody likes me, I'm ugly, yadda, yadda, yadda... Anyways, hope that answers your question! I also wanna thank everyone for their compliments and kind words! Well Kimberley I have been in the same boat as you growing up. I think that the reason why people do that is for the obvious reason they just don't understand us and don't want to take the time to do so. In turn we don't come to understand ourselves because we didn't get the feedback we needed. By the way you are very pretty. I seen your picture. Believe me. OK? Keep that boyfriend to. Its the only think you got to ward off these shy pesky freaks on here. Even though we wouldn't know what to do with if we had ya anyways.
