I just wanted to see if anyone is familar with GA? Specifically about 40 miles North of Florida.
The reason I am asking is that I would like to know if the hurricanes pose much of a threat there.
Any/all input would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers....

And i can say that i also live about forty miles away from the Gulf Coast, so i can identify. The most dangerous element of a hurricane is the storm surge, which can wipe out coastal towns easily if high enough. Say like the surge that hit New Orleans from Katrina; it was over 20 feet high and packed a tremendous punch. It was said that the city flooded in just a few hours. If you live off the coast, the winds can still be strong and knock hit into your house, like trees and such. Also, the flooding is always a big problem, no matter where you are in the hurricane. And yes, small tornadoes do spin off the big hurricane as well, causing more damage.

ok I havent heard of any storms hitting georgia. for some reason its not common there. Ive been though several storms Hurricane Ivan being the worst. dont let that keep you from living somewhere sure for me Ivan ment a month without power school or a job but hey things got back to normal.
only if you live on the coast would a hurricane be that big of a deal inland it is bad still but not near as what is on the coast.
