I can't believe what happened to me today. A letter was sent out to my advisor as well as to me in order to inform me that I was being kicked out of a class because of poor attendance. The only problem is, I NEVER MISSED CLASS! I think the professor just kept marking me absent because I am quiet and she didn't realize I was there (um, hello, that's the reason you take ROLE CALL or however it's spelled). I only participated a handful of times, which is more than I've participated for any other class! Now it sucks that I am being kicked out of a class which I NEED IN ORDER TO GRADUATE (I am a senior) because the professor thinks I'm invisible. Of course, I contested being kicked out......we'll see what happens.....in the mean time, I am seething with RAGE!!!! It's nice to be treated like you don't exist by peers.....and now by teachers, too!!!! I am a very hardworking student and get good grades. If I am kicked out of this class, it's going to ruin my entire college career. I can't believe this ********EDIT******* It's all okay now, guys!! My professor got back to me and said she knows I was there......she thinks she just hit the wrong button! Okay, so I'm NOT invisible after all....whew!!

I feel invisible most of the time too, but she should so be fired! You should probably try to talk to the teacher about it asap.

That sucks that you feel the same way I really liked this teacher....I think she just made an honest mistake. Still, it sucks to know you're so invisible! I already e-mailed her and told her what the situation was......hopefully, I'll hear from her soon. I'll keep you posted.

I've had professors that didn't take attendence and some that did, but usually if they did they made an effort to take it correctly. I don't know what happened in your case, if she just didn't remember you showing up or she actually looked around the class at the beginning and really didn't see you. I don't get it, it must be some kind of mistake. You shouldn't worry, I can't imagine after you tell her you have shown up to every class that she would still kick you out. I mean if you took notes in class you could show her them and prove you were there. I think this will be worked out, good luck.

i had a similar experience but not as bad, i was at college in appoaching the end of the second year and everyone on our course had to help out on an open day where loads of people visited the college.
towards the end of the day the principal of the college misstook me for a visitor and asked which school/college i was attending at the moment! i explained to her i was a student there and she just couldnt believe she hadnt seen me before in nearly 2 years!

I had this happen to me alot in highschool too! I got alot of computerized phone calls to home saying that I had missed 1 or more classes. When I know I was there. I brought it up with the teachers they would say: If you were here I would have seen you. I even ended up with a few U's on my report card for poor attendance. I used to get so frustrated. I finally just gave up with the whole damn thing.
