I had overcome my depression for a few months and was feeling quite good about myself. Now for the past few days I am feeling very dejected and very rejected; it feels like my depression is coming back. I am losing motivation to do things, right now I am trying to force myself to take a shower, normally I can do it without even thinking about it.

I've been very depressed before and sometimes I feel like it is very close to coming back. I also lack a lot of motivation to do things. So, sorry I'm not any help. I guess you just have to hang in there and know that things will get better, because they will.

So you've tasted hapiness? Isn't that enough motivation to get back there. I have been a constant depression for about 7 years now since I was 11... at first it wasn't that bad but it has got worser every year since. I've had a couple of times were I felt it was alleviating however came back stronger so I was wrong. Since you know how good life can be then you should have that a reason to get this hapiness and you are aware of the means in which to achieve it.

Depression i think is caused by underlying or an underlying problem (which is the root of it). i think it can be difficult to deal with the root, that might well be painful to cause it in the first place. Maybe one way to deal with it, without being too stark is to look and yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and socially and work out all the things you can do (you can see ok? hear? breath? you have use of all youre limbs? you dont have an diseases? etc etc). Try to work out all the things you can do and think how life would be if you could see, if you didnt have all youre limbs or had to worry about not being born in the country you live in or the colour of your skin. Then use that kind of very stark analysis to work out what advantages you have in life, what you dont have to worry about and what you can do easily. Maybe devote some of youre time to helping (in whatever way) people less able than you. By doing that you would be using up some of youre time constructively, giving yourself less time to dwell on the past and more on tryin to change the future and maybe help you feel better about yourself. Kind of -well i might not ever be able to totally solve my depression but i can do this and this and this. Sometimes the praise you get from helping whoever how will keep you going through the bad times. I mean to me getting praise or support from someone else means so much more than self praise. It boosts confidence in a way little else can. Some people you think you cant stand then they say something that means so much because you can see the feeling and effort. Others even if you respect them if you dont feel you've done enough the praise doesnt mean much.

sometimes when you have got no motivation then if you still have to do something it can keep you going. Setting myself quite a few goals and objectives helps me, sometimes i feel knackered and on a tredmill others having set routines helps and trying to do as much as you can. I mean you dont want to neglect friends, relatives or partners but equally some time appart can help and you can kind of motivate each other (if someone you know has done a particualr job or got a particular qualification, worked in a particular place it can make somethings seem easier, sometimes setting goals higher does bring more pressure and stress but we all need some pressure or stress to keep us focused on our goals). Then if you are doing quite a bit the tiredness should come from natural fatigue.
