Just tell them you stayed in and took it easy over the weekend. If they keep asking it, then they might eventually make assumptions, but it should work a few times. Those kinds of questions are annoying, but quite often it's the only topic of conversation I can think of in chat rooms etc (so I can't blame others for asking), so I guess you just have to live with it and find clever ways to avoid the question.

I don't get people asking me that much but the answer would be normally that I worked on Saturday apart from that chilled, got a takeaway, watched Match of The Day, went on the internet, listened to music, watched a movie. *my 400th post, yay *

I usually just tell the truth and say I didn't do anything.

Yeah just say nothing much- do you realise just how many people do nothing much for the weekend, it wouldn't be the most unusual answer you could give. There's no point in bullshiting.

Yeah, I think you're right. I get the impression that for most people it's mostly housework and laundry...and staring at the tube.

Yeah, I think you're right. I get the impression that for most people it's mostly housework and laundry...and staring at the tube. And I don't even have a tube- I get to stare at the laundry going round and round. Anyway there is nothing wrong about doing nothing on the weekend, but it helps if you have had a busy week to validate doing nothing to yourself. But why, particularly in western society are we expected to be doing something all the time? I don't think we should be vegetables but for me stillness can be very valuable.

I don't know if it's the same where you are but over here when people talk of wild weekend it usual just means envolves drink, drugs, vomit and very little actual memories of the weekend- or they're exagerating. If your at uni there has to be something going on at the weekends on the campus- it mightened be the wildest event or anything but atleast it would get you doing something for an hour or two that could lead into something else.

Yup, he's right! Wild weekend = vomit. Definitely overrated.

If i really didn't do anything over the weekend, i would just say "nothing much" and leave it at that.

I always ask my coworkers this question, because I can't really think of much else to talk to them about. I usually tell them that I did housework or relaxed around home.

theres this guy i work with who i cant stand, he asked me what i did at the weekend and if i tell him i went shopping or something, and he just replies, "what, all weekend and you just went shopping"etc.
when he asks what im up to and i say im going out during the day he responds with, "yeah and at night" etc.
i just feel like whats it got to do with you anyway?!
what really got on my nerves is when some colleagues went out for someones birthday and he just came and sat there all night hardly talking, i appreciate some people, myself included, can be like that and arent very talkative but it was the whole "mr life and soul of the party" attitude he has around work and how he comes in monday morning apparently not having been home or had any sleep etc.!

I usually say I went online, and then the person who asked never asks me again.

Some people that ask me what I did over the weekend already know the answer, which is usually nothing. I think they are trying to imply that I am odd or boring by always asking. Or maybe I am just paranoid.
