I have always had difficulty sleeping soundly. Even as a child, it would often take a long time to fall asleep. I also wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. A few months ago, I bought a white noise machine -- a SleepMate made by Marpac. It is amazing. I think part of my problem must be that I am overly sensitive to variations in sound level. The SleepMate produces a constant level of static sound by moving air through itself. I still have to be careful not to think too much about anything in bed, but the machine has made a huge difference. Same here. I'm a very light sleeper myself and was that way at a young age also. I, also, am very sensitive to sound and I don't have a white noise machine, but I put my fan on the highest setting. It's not much, but it helps a little. It won't cover very loud noise though, unfortunately. Someday maybe if I get some extra money, I might try to procure a white noise machine.

I definitely feel a little more conifident when I get a good nights sleep. However, it is not often that I get a sufficient amount of sleep because I have a moderate case of insomnia. My doctor wrote me a prescription for generic allergy pills and so far they ahvce been very effective for helping get to sleep. If i combine the pills with a relaxation technique i can usually get a good 8 to 9 hours of sleep every night.

I experienced the benefits of sleep after going thru my torturous major depression episode. Luckily THAT'S OVER! However, the therapahy I received encouraged me to be more sensitive to what triggers the depression, etc. I found that sleep cut out almost literally 80% of that mucky depressive feeling. Anyway, it ties into my shyness b/c the more sleep I get the less depressive and groggy I feel and in general being all depressive and groggy doesn't give you that "sparkling personality."

When I get barely any sleep I am so much more confident, as it was said before I guess I'm too tired to be anxious.

Sleep is like most things in life. You only appreciate it when you don't get enough.

I wish I could get some sleep, I've been awake for 41 hours and counting since the other day. Several nights this week I did not sleep at all, and the rest of this month I've only been getting about 1-3 hours of sleep a night.
I haven't noticed any change in my shyness for better or for worse, but when someone speaks to me it takes me a lot longer to comprehend what the person has said.
