First of all, as a die hard Yankee fan, I want to offer my sincere congradulations to those in the Red Sox Nation. With that being said... NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I just came back from the game, and even though our most hated rivalry danced gleefully on our graves, I was not angry. Upset, yes, but the Yankees put it on themselves by not finishing the Sox. As a Yankee fan, it will be so so hard to root for the Sox in the series, but let them have cake. We've seen 4 World Series titles in 5 years, and went to two more World Series. Sox fans under 30 have seen them in 1 series, and we all know what happened there. Those a little older saw them lose in '75. Will I root for the Sox? No. Will I root against them? No. They destroyed the evil empire (but we'll rebuild our Deathstar - i.e. Carlos Beltran) and now must conquer the master to reach the mountain top, be it Houston or St. Louis. I am bloodied, but I am not bowed.

Well, they've won the battle, but they have yet to win the war. As the Red Sox fans like to say, it ain't over til it's over, they have yet to get spanked by either the Cards or Clemens and his Astros. They haven't beat the curse yet! The Sox have made history this Series. They've out-pitched, out-hit, and just straight-up outplayed the Yanks those last four games. Where was the Godzilla we know? What happened to A-Rod, the so-called best player in baseball?? It was like watching a different team. I'm not crushed by this either, but I'm just really disappointed. You're right, it's hard to be pissed, we still have one of the greatest teams in baseball and they will be in the playoffs again next year. The fact that we were beaten by the Sox is hard to take, but if you look at the facts, we still have 26 World Series Championships. No one can take that away from them. Yankee fans, unlike some other fans, have nooo reason to be bitter. Let's go Yankees in 2005!!!!!!!

The fact that the Yankees have won so many championships, and I have enjoyed their current run since 1995, I am not upset. I would've been upset if we never won those titles, but now it's time for Boston fans to have fun. I watched them celebrate on our grass yesterday and flashed back to Aaron Boone's homerum last year. I was hoping to be in the middle of that kind of home town hooplah, but I picked the wrong game to go to. The Yankees blew it big time, and they deserve everything King George gives them. As for the World Series, I can't say that I can root for Boston. I am not supposed to. I was born and bred to hate the franchise, which I do. But I won't root against them either. It's just good to finally watch a good baseball game and not have nerves dancing in the pit of your stomach. Against St. Louis, it's in their favor, but not a given. But from what they just accomplished, I hope someone cautions them about how the Yankees last year, after another tiring series, blew it against The Marlins. So coming from a die hard Yankee Fan, I wish the Red Sox fans good luck. You deserve to have the joy we did. I cannot wait for next year, when it's time to hate them again... ;D

It's that competition that makes those games so fun to watch--the Sox have a great team and never go down easy when they do lose. I wonder how both teams are going to look next year--Steinbrenner will undoubtedly make some changes, and aren't like half the Sox up for free agency next year? I wonder what Pedro will do. I hope he doesn't become a Yankee, I don't think I could root for him! So now it's the Red Sox and the Cardinals in the Series. I won't really be rooting for either team--on the one hand, it'd be cool to see a team who hasn't won anything for so long win the World Series, but the Yankee fan in me feels like I'd be a traitor. And if they win, that'd be the end of our "1918!" chants.

Red Sox-Yankees: rubbish.
The Atlanta Braves is the daddy of BOTH teams!
