I'm bored! I had an 18 mile run last night and an incredibly boring equal opportunities meeting first thing this morning for the Huntington's Disease Association. I could hardley keep my eyes open during the meeting.
My anxiety levels raise big time if I'm not doing something. Does anybody find they become more conscious about their shyness when they have time on their hands?

Yes. I'm uncomfortable in public if I am not doing anything. Which is probably one of the reasons why I started smokeing, it gave me something to do with my hands. I always think that people think that I have something to hide because my eyes get shifty as I try to look at things while not making eye contact with anybody.

if i'm in public and i'm bored, i do get even more shy. i just sit there and look around, or pop my knuckles or something. i usually try to have a book with me. when i'm at home and i'm bored, i get more depressed.

It usually depends upon WHY I'm bored. If I'm bored on friday night because I couldn't get a date in a women's prison with a handful of pardons, and don't have hardly any friends, yeah, I get depressed about being shy. If I'm standing in a line, and get bored, I don't get self-conscious. I do try to bring a book with me to prevent boredom, though.

When I'm bored I tend to come up with crazy ideas some times. Today I'm thinking about dying my hair bright purple for the marathon on Monday. I'm running for Huntington's Disease and their global symbol is a purple flower. Somebody talk me out of it please!

My hair is now blue!
Well, 'Atomic blue' to be exact. I did it for the marathon on Monday. It's dark dark dark blue with a hint of silver. You can't miss me! I'll try to get a photo done over the weekend. I've been getting a lot of banter from my family and a few looks outside.

I guess we couldn't talk you out of it in time. I saw the picture and I like your hair, what color is it naturally? My husband is a soccer freak, he even tried out for the Dallas Burn, a team over here in the states. Anyway, we went to the world cup in '98 and when he saw that team that dyed their hair platnium blonde he had to do it also. Unfortunitly, soccer isn't as big in the states so everybody thought that he was trying to be like Eminem from his Slimshady video. That really ticked him off because he hates Rap. He kept it like that for a long time though, his soccer buddies understood it.

lol in public i like just try to be invisable and not stand out and im always thinking "whys everyone looking at me", i hate trying to blend in, doesnt come natural to me Yeah, same here, g3netix! ;D I think I've developed that disorder where you can't stop looking at yourself in the mirror to see how your hair and clothes are before stepping out the door. Sometimes I get "stuck in the house" for an hour or more 'cause nothin' looks right!!! - I mean because of people always staring at me. I am somewhat overweight, but I'm working on it, trying to eat healthier and not chocolate bars and chips so much, and I try to take a walk every night, as well as in the daytime, etc. I KNOW - I'm longwinded again! lol! And when I go for a walk, and I'm fatigued, I just HAVE to sit down on a bench, but I get nervous doing that, because when I'm sitting instead of walking people stare at me, so I try to always have a book with me in the backpack so I can read. My clothes aren't the nicest, so I probably look like a bum, and I get nervous when I'm so tired I have to sit down, that the people who walk/run past might think I'm going to ask them for money, like some people do. I'm doing it again, so I'll stop now. hardehar!
