Yeah. Pretty much. So a friend asked me to go to a karaoke party, which I hate, but I decided to suck it up and go because I hadn't seen her all semester and I'm graduating, and I figure as a shy person I better accept all the invitations I could get. But halfway through the night, she goes, "You're going to sit next to me because you have no friends and you're not even trying to make any!" I didn't know anyone else there! Way to be RUDE!

That sucks!
I've had to put up with some comments this past week...mostly along the lines of "you're so quiet I keep forgetting you are here."

At least you get comments about your progress.

"You're going to sit next to me because you have no friends and you're not even trying to make any!" I didn't know anyone else there! Way to be RUDE! Stay away from that person unless she apologises or understands how your shyness affects your general behaviour. She seems like one of those who thinks making new acquaintances is just as easy as buying bread. Going to places like that will almost certainly make you lonely for the whole evening, at least go to a place where you know more than one person ^^.

That sucks! I've had to put up with some comments this past week...mostly along the lines of "you're so quiet I keep forgetting you are here." That's equally rude . . .just what are you supposed to say to that? At least you get comments about your progress. I don't think she was mentioning any progess/improvement . . . I agree with this. She is indeed a person who finds making new acquaintances as easy as taking a crap, lol, but she often loses her friends due to some drama. (hmm, wonder why?) Yeah, I'm not going to hang out with her any more unless it's in a smaller group!

DO NOT POINT IT OUT TO US, WE KNOW WE'RE SHY :@:@. It makes me so angry, why not try and help and try and talk to us instead of just pointing out the bloodly obvious!!!

I get angry at the person who is doing the pointing out and I get disappointed in myself for being so shy. I condemn those people, outgoing people are overrated and the only people that are defined as socially acceptable to them are other outgoing people so fuck them all.

At least you have a friend who's willing to invite you to do anything.

But halfway through the night, she goes, "You're going to sit next to me because you have no friends and you're not even trying to make any!" That was rude, but maybe she was trying to be helpful, in her own perverted way. People just don't understand what it's like. Some answers to "you're so quiet:" "Well, what do you want to talk about?" "Well, would you prefer me to be noisy?"
